So my question is that are these traits coincidence with Lynch and Tuitt or will Kelly in the future always look for 1 disrupter and 1 pass rusher?

That's kind of a trick question. If you could draft players a la the NFL way... yes, in this scheme you would like to have one large anchor in the middle + another very powerful guy playing on the same side as the CAT linebacker + more of a pass-rushing sack artist (still with a lot of power) on the side of the DOG. Basically, you could not script a better front 3 (at least on paper) than what we landed in Nix + Lynch + Tuitt because they all fit a prototypical mold. Only in a dream world could you conceive of something better (aka landing an all-world prospect like Clowney).

So no, it is not coincidence, BK recruited guys specifically for roles not just generic "DE" or "OLB." For isntance, Councell is an amazing DOG prospect because of his speed and potential pass coverage ability. I also love that BK was all over him before recruiting services were... shows his staff is great talent evaluators (as if we didn't already know that). Rabasa and Ishaq are great CAT prospects because they can play with their hand in the ground and rush like a 4-3 DE or play standing up.

With regards to DE, guys like Lynch and Niklas fit the one mold and guys like Hounshell and Tuitt fit the other. One requires more pure power and the other requires a little bit more of a blend. With all of that being said, just because a kid was recruited for one position does not mean that's where they will end up playing. All players develop differently so you can never really be sure when you recruit a guy for a position that he will pan out how you expect. That is why BK grabs a lot of big athletic guys who could play on either side of the ball.

Also was named Day 1 defensive MVP at the USA vs World game.

Scout.com: Day 1 Notebook: Team USA

Day 1 Defensive MVP
Stephon Tuitt, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive end is a complete load to handle off of the edge. He was one of the most physically impressive players, if not the most physically impressive, but he also produces.

Coming off of the edge he has a nice burst and really long arms to initiate contact well away from his body. For a taller player he plays with nice leverage and keeps his body low. He is also super strong and sheds blocks with relative ease when his speed does not get him easily by his man.

“Tuitt is a long good looking body he is really going to be a force out there for us,” explained defensive coordinator, head coach at Miami Central in Fla.

Rivals can suck it. There is no way that a kid playing with 4 future Irish teammates in an All-American game is going to not send off his fax with them tomorrow morning.

Cannot wait to have Stephon on board.

Take the prestige of an ND degree out of the equation and the Irish are still ahead. Isn't GT's grad rate around 50%?

Very smart Mother. God forbid he gets hurt, he will still be in the position to make his mark on the world.
