I think he really wants to stay East. I really don't think it is about him not wanting to come here.
So one of the main reasons that I've seen for why Savon would pick the Irish is that he wanted to be a part of a good recruiting class and many people have noted how much better ours is than theirs. But they just got a 4 star (ESPN) lineman today which makes 3 including Shuler and a DT. And many of their other 20 recruits are ranked as pretty high 3 stars. This has to be one of their best classes in a while and if they add Savon then I would think definitely.
Just struck me because I assumed they had a mediocre class but I kept seeing them get commitments from solid recruits and the 4 star OL today pushed me to post something.
Not that I think he's a Rutgers lock but just that this particular reason I don't think is so much in our favor as we assume.
Has anyone heard. I stumbled across this article...Dated Jan 15th. I thought the comment scout.com is reporting was pretty interesting. Is Rutgers no longer in the picture?
Savon Huggins: Notre Dame, Rutgers and North Carolina All Vying for 5-Star RB
Savon Huggins, a 5-star running back, is deciding between Notre Dame, Rutgers and North Carolina as National Signing Day approaches. Huggins has taken his official visits to Notre Dame, North Carolina and Auburn, and his father calls those his finalists, according to a Scout.com report. As he hails from the Garden State, Rutgers is hopeful to land Huggins. However, going up against perennial powers Notre Dame and North Carolina, which have both put together impressive recruiting classes, is not the best bet for a Big East school that went 4-8 last year.
... Odds are against it being ND but you never know. Seems like they really like ND a lot but are the worst fit for football as he and his father want him to play in a traditional system with a FB.
FWIW, all six Rival's analysts believe Savon is headed to Rutgers:

I think we are toast..... BTW Rutgers has the second best class in the Big Least behind Louisville. I know that is not saying much but.....
TCU?
We could very easily go to a variation of the pistol when this kid is in. He would be able to run downhill and we would have a lot of the options that a spread affords.
Cam McDaniel is a very good running back...not blazing fast in a timed 40
According to the threads on here Cam is faster than Savon in the 40. 4.53 vs 4.55
Same speed for all intents and purposes. But again, it's not about straight away speed, it's about football speed and that is where Cam will hopefully wow us all!
40 times are and always have been given way too much credit...I for one have always preferred to see film and on film the Mcdaniel kid is fast, he may not break the 60 yard runs if he gets into the open field, but I can't remember Armando breaking any big time runs outside of the k.o.r. against hawaii. If the kid can get downhill hard and fast with one cut and get us 20 yards when it's there, than that's great, but please don't put any stock into his 40 or Huggins.
Just ask Mike Floyd. He keeps getting knocked for his lack of speed/40 time, but then everytime I see him play he's getting into the 2nd and 3rd levels with ease. Football players are football players bottom line.
Some scouts say that Huggins is the best lateral moving back they have seen in sometime. I love the ND bias guys but Cam McDaniel is no where near Huggins. I do believe Cam will play a contributing roll on this team but at max it will only be special teams for the first two years. I do think he can be a guy like Danny Woodhead. Tough as an ox with the heart of a champion that everyone always underestimates....sigh.. man I hate the Pats.
