All the more interesting when you consider that Hendrix wasn't even voted the best scout team player on offense, but quite a few people here seem to think that he should be starting in front of both Crist and Rees.

Yeah, one can only imagine what's going through Hendrix' head right now. No Scout team POY award? He's probably filing his transfer papers Monday morning.

Doubtful. He's here to compete for the starting QB job and could probably care less about Scout Team Player of the Year award.

yeah...totally agree.
Pretty sure there isn't a whole lot of any of that going on in Hendrix's head.
He's going to push to start. He's great for this offense, and he could conceivably win the starting job...it's a little bit of a stretch, but it's possible.

I think he's at least 2nd string by the fall. He knows his time is coming.

Also, you never know what part injuries may play. Kelly often has had to play numerous QBs per season his last few seasons. Someone will emerge and be our starter for a while. That may very well be Hendrix. Go Irish!

Sarcasm guys! Of course it's doubtful he's transferring.

Isn't there scout team players of the week awards during the season? And didn't Hendrix win some of those?

Maybe all this end of year award means that Roberson will be a Heisman and Hendrix merely an All-American. :smilewink

Anyone find it weird that there wasn't even a mention of Manti for any awards?
Not trying to stir anything... I just kept waiting for something and... then... nothing.
Wouldn't he have been our defensive player of the year? Did I miss an award? Did we have that award?

There wasn't D POTY or O POTY
just team MVP

Manti won't get upset by that either.

Hopefully thats good news for us that Roberson was the scout offensive player of the year. Maybe he can be a our power back we need.

A lot of these award ceremony things are sociological/psychological and only partly merit-based. You can't just "make things up" as a staff, of course, but Coaches [some of them at least] use these things as part of their "environment forming", sending messages to the "boys" as a whole.

Also, rewarding good old soldiers is almost always a win/win situation as far as everybody feeling good. And, It wouldn't blow me away to find that Kelly judged more good coming from revving Roberson up with the award, especially if he felt Hendrix didn't need it. Everyone knows Hendrix is coming after the QB position, but maybe Cierre & Jonas don't know how hard Cam R is coming after RB.

Floyd's MVP is not only justified, but fires Big Mike up for next year as a leader. I believe that you can go right down the line and discover some multidimensionality in every choice. Rarely will we see Kelly do things without large numbers of marbles banging around in his head. Of course all of this brilliant BS goes a'gloaming if the players had a vote in it.

And, Manti for sure doesn't need the strokes. He's been getting that since Spring Practice. Diaco would pick him out of the LB+DE+NT lines and have him judge how hard the guys were hitting the sleds. Manti was the MAN from day one.
