Worried about 2009 recruits already?

It'll get done!

Hearing too much about people freaking out already about no 2009 commits yet.

It will happen. These kids, committed or not, are just feeling it out now. If we lose this year, it doesn't matter if we have 30 recruits right now or not, if we lose next year, they will look elsewhere.

If we win big this year, we will be getting what we need and then some. Bank it!

This is NOT the time to be worried. It's a full year and CW and CB have shown they can make things happen. Lets all relax and enjoy our NEW guys who haven't even stepped foot on campus as students yet.

Keep a close eye on these guys (top recruits), I have a feeling that when we start winning in Sept., things will change dramatically.

Patience...

It's good to be Irish! :pbanana:

We get a lot more interest from recruits after official visits. I'm not worried at all. While this class will not be top 6, it will be top 12 or so, which is enough for this year.

USC has 10 commits already. Just sayn

They're all from southern California too. Don't worry ND will land a top ten class. It probably won't be top five just because of the numbers they plan on taking but as long as they put together a solid season they'll get their guys. I'm sure they'll end up getting guys that we haven't even heard of yet, and there will be guys that consider ND more closely is they start the season well.

If you're faily new to recruiting you may not know or remember that ND ended up landing 9 out of their 18 members of the '07 class after November and that was without Corwin Brown.

The thing that will end up really hurting ND will be the ban on texting and the new extra restrictions on spring recruting trips.

On spring recruiting is that just the HC that cannot make visits ?

I'm not sure. I know that CW mentioned that the HCs can not go out during a large chunk of the spring, but in my mind I think that would defeat the purpose in a way if the other coaches were still allowed to.

This was largely the work of Ty Willingham and warm weather coaches.

2009 recruiting

2009 recruiting

Why would anyone concede our 2009 class not being equal to or better than 2008...especially since we haven't played the first game of the 2008 season. I think we will all agree that 2009 recruits will watch our success/failure rate in 2008. Until then, relax and bask in the success we experienced in 2008. Go Irish

Per Blue & Gold (Not Premium): "There was no major movement with respect to commitments or even official offers. That is consistent with the approach Charlie Weis and his staff are taking this year. That approach seems to involve extended evaluation periods with the offers going out at a slower pace than last year; this should not be construed as a bad thing or a slow start."

Makes sense to me!!!

Ty needs the extra time to sharpen his golf game.

Just because every other coach doesn't want to work as hard and needs time off shouldn't mean that Charlie Weis should not be allowed to go recruit, it's bull.

Damn Straight! CWs hard efforts were causing some of the other coaches to pick up their work ehtics and they resented it. Probably lost too much of their tans and their golf swings rusted up.

You work harder than everyone else and they change the rule so you can't work that hard anymore because you make the others look lazy in comparrison. ADs were putting their coaches on the road to keep up w CW and those that wanted to work harder.
How socalistic can you get. That is our NCAA.

I am not worried about this class. The elite players are gonna commit once we start winning this season and I think that is gonna start with Sean Parker after we blow out Nevada

Question: If we beat SC, just how big will it be towards getting top recruits in this years class?

Dude, if we're 5-0 going in, and we beat them, with all those recruits and the entire nation watching, and the stadium rocking (for once), I can't even imagine. It would be beyond huge. Receivers will want to be Tate and Floyd, LB's will want to be like Te'o and Smith (and Smith, and um, Smith), linemen will want to to be like T-Rob and Johnson. Even kids that has previously dropped ND will turn their heads. I'm not even joking...you know how crazy sh!t happens in recruiting.

Of course, a 3-2 record going in plus a bad loss to USC, and reverse everything I said in the past paragraph, and stick a fork in this class...

Yea, we've lost out on some kids that we really wanted, but the recruiting season is far from over, remember, those kids haven't signed on the dotted line yet.
