Ya, that was always the official story. The "rumor" I heard was after the Uconn loss he was in the locker room talkin ****. Said something like "eff this I can't wait to go to the NFL" and that's why AA popped him. If you remember AA didn't play the next week against Stanford because of a cracked bone in his right hand.

He was out to "dinner", a very late dinner, with his family at a local drinking establishment after a loss. He was punched by an angry fan.

Most likely, he was out drinking and got punched in the face by an angry fan because of the loss. The only thing fishy about the official story is the midnight dinner.

The story I heard from a friend before it ever hit the news was that his brother was hitting on some guy's girlfriend at the bar (Corby's if memory serves me correctly), the boyfriend didn't take kindly to it, there was some back and forth and in normal bar happenings he got punched by a friend of said boyfriend. Could be totally bull****, but that's what I heard and that it was not related to the game or an irate fan at all.

The only reason I personally believe it was that I heard it via text message "dude clausen just got punched in the face lol" while waiting to catch a flight out of Midway hours before I saw it anywhere online or on TV. The AA is possible, but that seems like a conspiracy theory to me and I've never heard anything to that effect from a source I would trust or any player who should have seen it... but it's still possible I guess. Do not take my story as canon, I won't vouch for something I didn't see in person.

could have happened but not likely to many guys in the locker room for it not to have leaked to the media

I actually know the kid who punched him. He was an '08 grad from Keough. Funny funny kid.

In all seriousness? Like super 1000% you know it was him? Can you share the full story?

I know, never doubt the TerryTate, I'm just looking for more details.

That is awesome that Clausen (Tate as well) decided to continue his education, he'll be set for life.
I wonder if he does any workouts with the football team....

How did the biggest QB prospect since Powlus only get his thread to 7 pages??? With a page and a half related to him coming back to get his degree 4 years later? WILD....

im hoping reverse karma, see thats why he did poorly, no views=no wins. So by that logic Aaron lynch will win 3 heisman trophies

Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but Jimmy got his degree and graduated with his class.

And they say if a player leaves early they most likely won't come back to get a degree. It only took him a year. Nice job Jimmy.

Congrats to Jimmy on graduating. No matter what happens with his football career, than can never be taken from him. I'll continue to root for him to become a Pro Bowl QB. I'm convinced he'll have a better career than Cam Newton when its all said and done.

Regarding the relatively short thread, it looks like it wasn't even started until after he had already committed and started classes as an EE. I wasn't around then, so I can't speak to why that is, but maybe someone else can shed some light.

Agreed congrats to Jimmy. Cam Newton will have flamed out in 3 years and Jimmy will be starting for some time in the NFL then (just probably not Carolina).
