EDIT: Lynch is now the #10 overall prospect in the country according to Scout. Pretty exciting. With all of the drops (a couple of them inexplicably huge) and a couple bumps we are now locked in at #4 on the class rankings.

This is great news for recruiting! I'm not a HUGE believer in the star system, but where I think it does matter is that 4&5 stars attract other 4&5 stars and those players TEND to pan out into big-time players. If ND can manage to find themselves in a BCS game this year, despite the fact that MOST of this year's recruits will have had nothing to do with it, momentum will be in FULL swing and next year's recruiting class should be AT LEAST as good as this year's which means pulling in guys like Lynch will hopefully become common place for ND! VERY exciting time to be an Irish fan!!!

Very confused as to how he didn't get a fifth star, he was raised to 6.0 from 5.8, they haven't updated the top 100 yet, but it's definitely weird.

Both Ishaq and Tuitt got their fifth stars.

There are only 26 Rivals 5*s, unless someone got a jump from outside of the Rivals 250. That's on the low end for recent years.

Not sure how he didnt get his 5* on Rivals.

According to rivals he is dominant, but what held him back was that he is one dimensional. He only has a speed rush to the outside and lacks the ability to stop the run consistently.

For me, I could care less about that 5th star because come February 3rd no one will care/remember the stars of these players anymore and will fully focus on next years class and these players development. There are no star systems for college players, just high school star rankings.

With Lynch's size and pass rush ability, he just needs a little coaching to complete him into a perfect DE in this class. Tuitt is more ready for the 3-4 than Lynch, but Lynch is already at school so he has a jump start on it. The other thing about his pass rush leaving the hole for the run is that if you have ishaq behind him, where is that RB going to go? he has to get past two 6'6" defenders? one thats on his outside and one thats in the hole? #28 overall isn't bad. He doesn't get the 5*, but 28 overall is really good.
