We are not out of this yet. I like the fact that BK is visiting with him in the morning and that he did not commit to the Trojans already. It isn't over until the fat lady sings. I still like our chances here. We've had an incredible last 48 hours....., why not add to our recruiting momentum?!! Go Irish! Amir..., this is your chance to be a part of something truly special!

If Amir wants to be an actor and have a Hollywood college experience, then so be it. He would be great to have but if he chooses USC over Stanford and ND then he isn't a RKG. I would love to have him but truly his position offensively is easy to find replacements for. The Ishaqs, Aarons, and Stephons of the world are hard to find. If he doesn't choose ND, they will have 3-4 years to make him wish he would have.

Ohh! Why bring her into it! Just someone else to cloud the issue.

You know I hope we get someone else, but I am not, nor have I been exactly enamored with any of the prospects available at running back this year.

I am excluding Cam because he sort of came out of nowhere. But from Hayes to Huggins, and Carlisle to Schuler, I guess I thought Bigelow was the best of the bunch, and he went a different direction.

I would be okay to sit on McDaniels, and wait until next year with the defensive class we are growing.

Cam is a better running back than Amir, and we will see it. Amir is a slot reciever in the Irish offense. Cam could be dominate if hes given the chance at running back. Everybody is mesmerized by his speed and hands, but Amir can not take the pounding of our schedule. Mark my words Cam stays at Running back, and if Amir comitts he will be in the slot.

LOL. I would love to get Amir, but I agree with you in that I LOVE our recruiting class. To be honest with you I would be elated to close out this class with who we have thus far. I think we have some awesome playmakers already and this class was really about rebuilding our Defense and we have done an outstanding job in that department. Would love to Add Amir to the mix, but he is not a "must get" by any means. I think Cam will prove to be an awesome back for us.

I was hooked and thought we needed either Huggins or Amir. But Roberson is bigger and probably stronger then these too. I think he should get alot of playing time with wood this year. He was a 4* last year. Lets give him a shot and see if he can show us what he is worth.

He will whether Amir is Irish or not. Spring ball will help us get a glimpse of the depth chart, but my EARLY season prediction is that Wood, Gray, and Roberson will all have at least 50 carries during the 2011 season.

Now back to Amir, would love to see him come in, RS, and have 4 more years of eligibility backing up Theo and Toma (both seniors in 2012 without 5th year options) in the slot. Ideal. Here is to BK pulling another one out of his hat...depending on the time of his visit, due to the Atkinson trip as well today, does an announcement come tonight or tomorrow?

I hope that Roberson turns out to be good. I really don't think that Gray is good enough.

It sounds like Amir is a great athlete and more importantly a quality kid.
Seems to me it comes down to Kelly vs. Kiffin, I like our chances then.

He's going to get his shot. Landing Amir has nothing to do with that. It's about building quality depth and having the right numbers back there. When Gray graduates, we'll be very thin at RB. Considering what a pounding these guys take at that position, you need to have depth back there. Amir (or Huggins) would provide that, even if you think he'll be a slot guy (he has said repeatedly that BK is recruiting him as a RB)...

I agree that depth is very critical in college football. But i think this year we will have to stick with just getting Cam.

I am ok with 1 RB (CAM)...i think he is much better than his * ranking- plus he has the all important IT factor...this kid has tons of heart.

I agree that he will be a play maker just worried if he can be the type of running back we need.

Cam is going to be a great addition. The kid played great against the best high-school competition in the country. After watching his video on youtube I'd take 11 Cams on each side of the ball.

Could you quantify the Type of back we need?

We need a back with a little bit of speed and can run over someone. We could get in the endzone 4 or 5 times this year for like the 3 or 4 yard line by running the ball. We need that guy that can force his way to the endzone. That maybe Roberson but we don't know that yet.

I would be happy if we got both Amir and Savon. I would take this class as is and be happy with it. If we get those two it would be great. If we got one or the other, good. The defensive side of this class is going to be great.

Power back - Roberson has been confirmed to be a "Hughes type" running back.

Power with some Speed - Jonas has Power and some speed, however seems to drop the bisquit, however is a option.

Scat/Speed - Cierre has speed and can make ppl miss....

Now on to CAM he has speed 4.5 is a very respectable speed- in fact they have Huggins at a 4.55.... and CAM has some wiggle....

So tell me...what are we missing? Depth...there is depth there...with many types of backs.

Jonas wouldn't see the field if i was a coach he can't hold on to the ball to save his life. And Roberson is unknow yes he was a 4 star but can he play at this level.

Jonas will get a shot...

BK was mentioned on many cases that Roberson has impressed.

What I am saying is that we have solid backs...I would love to add Amir or Huggins however its not a desperate situation.

Oh and BTW...CAM had 43 touchdowns and 2000 yards rushing in Texas' hardest division...that is impressive.

I agree 100%...cant afford to drop the ball. Reminds me of that old movie (the name escapes me) where the RB carried the ball to class and ppl tried to knock i out. :)

Rockne made his ball players do that and so did Leahy. ff1014 would have kept The Four Horsemen and Heisman winner's on the bench. I believe the ND record for most fumbles in a game is 7 and it was by a Heisman winner.

Kelly's type of spread is not as dependent on a power back as most offensive systems. Since he emphasizes a quick read & dart-thrower release, he can score in the red zone the way many pro teams do --- think of how many times the pros aren't getting in from the very close yards and on third down the O-coordinator calls a pass to the tight end or a fade or a misdirection pass play, or even a qb run/pass option. Kelly knows how to score. All that said, this thread is allegedly about Amir Carlisle, who is a great young prospect, but not one to address the need for a line-blaster-type back if we think we need one.

You keep pounding Gray for having fumbling issues, but Wood put the ball on the ground at least once in just about every game this year. Many of those were after he was down but the kid has issues holding on to the ball. Wood fumbled on the game winning drive against USC only to be saved by Eifert. There is a reason that teams purposely rip at the ball when Wood is carrying it.
