I want to see what Roberson has to offer since he was a 4* last year.
*cough* CALI *cough*
I want to see what Roberson has to offer since he was a 4* last year.
He's a big back that will have a role on this team in the near future but the depth at RB is getting slim with Allen and Hughes gone and Jonas Gray in a Sr. next season, so RB is very much a need.I want to see what Roberson has to offer since he was a 4* last year.
Both are really needed and they are so different that there is really no conflict other than the possibility of available scholarships.Honestly would pefer Amir, and that is not my Cali favoritism either. Just feel Amir is better suited for our system
article from bleacher report. sounds pretty good for nd
Savon Huggins, a 5-star running back, is deciding between Notre Dame, Rutgers and North Carolina as National Signing Day approaches.
With less than three weeks before the New Jersey native is likely to make his decision, we have to wonder where he'll end up.
Huggins has taken his official visits to Notre Dame, North Carolina and Auburn, and his father calls those his finalists, according to a Scout.com report.
As he hails from the Garden State, Rutgers is hopeful to land Huggins, who has excelled at St. Peter's Prep right under the Scarlet Knights' collective nose.
Despite recruiting in the northeast, Rutgers does have a decent class. With 4-star recruits Al Page and Miles Shuler, the Scarlet Knights could see a major improvement if they do gain the commitment of Huggins.
However, going up against perennial powers Notre Dame and North Carolina, which have both put together impressive recruiting classes, is not the best bet for a Big East school that went 4-8 last year.
Notre Dame has a host of 4-star recruits and an extremely talented class, but it lacks a running back of Huggins' stature. With tight end Ben Koyack and wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, both 4-star recruits, the Irish provide Huggins with extremely talented support from him to grow as a runner over the next few years.
North Carolina, meanwhile, has an excellent class already and has gained the commitment from 4-star running back Travis Riley. The Tar Heels' offensive additions are as impressive as those at Notre Dame, but Riley would likely compete with Huggins for carries, dropping the values of both prospects.
In the end, expect Huggins to commit to Notre Dame. Combined with this year's improvements and another solid recruiting class, the tradition the Irish carry will be too much for Huggins to turn down.
I hear what your saying and there is truth to that but ND is going to take 2 feature backs next regardless. Missing out would be a real blow because ND is couple of injuries away from having to move Riddick having to move back to RB.
Right now there is only Wood, Gray, Roberson and Cam McDaniel.
That is not good depth at all. Roberson and McDaniels are unknowns and Roberson was originally recruited as a FB. Gray has the physical tools and has yet to put it together and has been a fumbling machine.
Wood has the potential to be special but he can't be the only one.
I agree that they aren't just going to take any RB just to add depth, they want quality depth, but what I was trying to say is that not getting one this year is going to put that much more pressure on get multiple top quality RB's in 2012.personally, i dont think that the staff is too worried about that. right now it seems like the only two rb type players they're chasing are Huggins and Carlisle, which you can consider two game changing prospects that you have to go after regardless of depth at the position. With that said I don't think they are bent on taking another rb in this class just to add depth if they don't think that prospect is worth taking a scholarship away from next year's class.

Auburn has one of this years best Freshman running backs and UNC is going to get absolutely hammered by the NCAA for violations.
Other than those small nits, the article is fine.
Yes CAM is going to kick butt! He is a steal for sure....
Don't know a lot about Cam's personality, but it is my hope that he is seeing all of this near panic because of Amir and or Huggins. Just looking at the surface, he played in a football copetitive state and I would be willing to bet that he is very competitive. That being said, most are forgetting about him when talking of us getting a running back. Maybe, hopefully, this puts some grit in his craw and he has the attitude of showing that he is the feature back the we need, we just didn't know it. Off topic I know, not a lot about Savon, and I hope he does come to ND, but I don't want it to overshadow someone that has already committed to ND.
If you go into an article at B/R (or FanTake or SB Nation) and think it's automatically being written by someone who just had a sit down with Brian Kelly, travels around the country scouting, or is a paid full-time college football analyst, then that's your fault.
He didn't play in a "competitive state", he played in THE MOST competitive state. High School football down here is a whole different animal. 10,000+ isn't outta the ordinary on a friday night. My senior year, I played in front of 25,000 in a rivary game. Felt like a college game with the band and volume of the crowd. Texas high school football is awesome.
I think Cam will handle everything just fine. He doesn't have that entitlement attitude that you see so many guys come into a program with. He's already competed with the best of the best and knows what it takes. I think he'll step up and be a solid guy for the next 4 years.
You guys do know the expressed purpose of Bleacher Report right?
It's not ESPN, Sports Illustrated, or the New York Times and it does not wish to be so. It's a network where fans can share their opinions, in a lot of ways, just like Irish Envy.
This is particularly true for the ND section, where for the most part it is a collection of 5 or 6 writers sharing their opinons on Irish football.
Sure there are some bad stuff there, but where isn't there? I see ridiculous posts and crazy comments from people here, should Irish Envy lose all credibility?
Being close to the B/R community I can tell you there are many fine college football writers. That's why it kind of irks me that people think it has no credibility or is a joke. I mean, nearly every single website throws out rumors and gets things wrong all the time. No one ever gets stories 100% correct, ever.
NDFANnSouthWest said, "My take on Bleacher is that they try to be the first one to report news...well that takes a lot of gut feeliing articles not based on any data."
That's not true, at all really. B/R reacts to news and tries to predict things just like SBNation, FanTake Network, and others. It's just B/R is the biggest one out there so it has more of a bullseye on it.

No offence Rocket...my point was merely that BR is cutting edge info and sometimes gets a "feel" for what is going on and there is nothing wrong with that. I personally like BR and read it daily...so I am a fan.
