Follow the money. This is a WAY bigger salary horizon for Edsall. Maryland also has some serious football history which youngsters won't remember. My brother's old coach [Jerry Claiborne] brought high-quality weight-training concepts [which produced the likes of Randy White, whom you'all probably also don't remember], better facilities [remember that it is the ACC that eats Big East teams, not the other way around---there was a reason why Miami, VT, and BC went there], and an attitude that they can be a major player. As to whether TCU would be scary to face: that has to have been a joke, as in the ACC you have to face VT, FSU, Miami, UNC, BC, Clemson etc all the time. Compare that to the general team in the Big East---it certainly doesn't look like a chump line-up. Edsall knows that he has way better facilities, cash-flow, and less struggle-to-maintain in his new job. [I still think that firing Friegen was a bonehead move, and pretty callous when the guy had turned Maryland into something dangerous again, but this thread is about Edsall, so that is irrelevant, I guess...sort of is anyway since it's a fait accompli].
