Being in Indiana... I'm partial to discounted Oliver wines. Extremely good taste for a cheap price.

Yeah - their winery is a good place to kick an afternoon too. The tastings are pretty good, but it sucks driving an hour or so to get there. So as a fellow Indy denizen, might I suggest the Easley winery downtown? Almost as cheap, and a lot closer.

Also, this Clear guy sounds pretty good. And I'll try to stay more on topic.

Yeah, the Clear kid looks like an impressive athlete. I saw video of him but he was playing TE and showed just a bit of him playing OL. He needs to add weight and lot more strength but the quickness, lateral quicks and speed, and long arms are there. I just don't see use coming in and stealing this kid from Alabama and Tennessee and half the SEC. I think we waited too long on him. We looks more promising than Flavin or Whitmore. I just don't think anyone takes a OL or Defensive player away from Bama these days. Back on point now but it would be nice though.

hmm, unless your Notre Dame, you must of forgotten who ND is!

The only problem here is that Clear wants to play TE in college, not OT. He said himself after the offer he was unsure whether the offer was for OT or TE, and will wait for clarification before scheduling an OV.

Everything I have read has shown a lot of interest in ND. Now that he has an offer, expect a visit soon.

Ironman is referring to an ISD article this morning on Clear, in which they talked to his dad. It's pretty much a TE or don't even bother type of deal (but the dad wasn't that rude!). If ND needs only a OT and not a TE, then it shouldn't even bother...

Ask Jason Peter about playing college te? oh yea he is playing left tackle for the Eagles with a 6 year 60 MILLION dollar contract. All the big name o-lineman to come out of Iowa in the last 10-15 years were originaly te's and were made to switch to tackle. most the programs that have 6-6 270 lb tight ends do not throw to them anyways and are just an additional right tackle... get over it not everyone gets to touch the ball! Apparently he would rather have a coach lie to him about where he is going to play rather than have someone be honest with him. good luck kid!

There is no way we recruit this kid as a TE. It's too bad he isn't comfortable with playing O-Line. That is our need at the moment so if he is not interested in O-Line then we need not be interested.

This kid/dad are delusional if they think anyone is going to keep him at Tight end. They may say they will, but the minute he is on campus and they start feeding him, they will hand him #77 and tell him to go join the tackles.

Really likes Alabama, Duke, and Tennesee. Not looking good here.

Maybe he had a talk with the coaches at ND. We don't need a TE, we need a tackle, and he wants to play TE. His dad assured ISD's reporter that Clear was very interested in ND and ND would get a trip if they were recruiting him as a TE. I highly doubt that ND is recruiting him there, soooooooo...

We definently don't need this kid as a TE. This kid seems to have tunnel vision in regards the the te position, and I just don't see him budging. He will sign with someone who is willing to give him a shot at the position and it won't be ND.

Well, if he's wedded to the idea of being a TE, and has an offer from Duke, and is interested in a real education, I bet Duke would promise him a shot at TE.

Why not just give him a shot at TE, he would probably redshirt anyway.

Because we are loaded at TE for the next 4-5 years easy. Coaches have been really impressed with Alex Welch. Koyack will likely "redshirt" and with our limited scholarships available, we are not going to take another TE with our current needs.

We aren't loaded unless they pan out. We have no idea how good Welch or Koyack is going to be. Eifert will be very good, obviously Rudolph is a beast if he stays. What is the deal with Jake Golic? Any word on his development?

Due to limited numbers of offers all staffs must trust their judgements on recruiting players. They have 22+ positions to be concerned about constantly resupplying. Kelly is recruiting very nearly one man per position. He over-signed QBs last year because that's the one position that he can't afford to miss on. Any position on the field could be worried about until the guys actually take the field. I'll trust the staff. They think that Welch and Koyack are superior talents.
