I don't think we are over ranked at 20.

After a season in which we only beat 1 ranked opponent & lost to Tulsa? Thats an over ranking.

Look I believe were on the up swing here but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Honestly if we beat Miami and either Mike Floyd or Rudolph come back I think we deserve to be a top 25 ranked pre season team.

What is inaccurate? ND's ranking or the majority of rankings?

I don't think we are over ranked at 20.

The poll as a whole. For instance, ignoring bowl games because they haven't happened, the fact that Oregon returns basically their entire team and is #2 right now should have them in the driver's seat for #1. Michigan wouldn't be anywhere near the top 25 if a poll for next year was made today.

There are many more examples I'm too lazy to type. If a poll was made today, ND would not be ranked. If we whip Miami then we will be somewhere around #20-25 coming in to next year.

I completely agree with everything you just said. I do think the poll is fair that we should be preseason ranked between 20-25.

Another point to help your case is how the poll has Stanford and Arkansas both in the top 10. I know they are both in BCS bowls this year, but both teams are losing first round QBs.

I just want to know what it is that you are smokin' so I can get some . . . who didn't rank our schedule as one of the ten most difficult in the nation this year? Overall the 29th defense (way up) -- over the last three games one or two in every category! For Pete's sake!

And lost our starting QB, starting RB, starting TE, and most of our receiving corps missed time.. 20-25 is about where I would put them.

I would love to see us unranked, or #25. We always seem to do better with low expectations as opposed to big pre-season hype, and as a fan it makes it slightly less disappointing if we don't make a bcs.

I'm not saying i expect this team to do worse than this year by any means, but I like to keep expectations reasonable to low(lot's of Weis conditioning in this regard).

Preseason polls are based on the what-if factor. ND has shown a lot of improvement and I believe a 20-25 ranking is deserved.

Yea but TULSA is 25 in this ranking....so they must be that good...

Bwahahahaha...I couldn't keep a straight face...

We may finish in the top 20, and we may start 25-40...but we have alot of questions at QB...we have a Rudy question and a Floyd question...

D could be lights out...lets hope we stay healthy and continue to build depth.

agree with devlog...need to temper it a little...

This guy is considering Luck and Mallett on the Stanford and Arkansas teams for 2011... neither will be there.
Thanks for the post, but this list/article isn't worth reading.

I love seeing Florida, Texas, and USC all projected outside of the top 25 next year even if its in a BS preseason poll... those are arguably the teams with the best recruited talent to date in the country

That's what I brought up earlier. i don't see how they could have Arkansas and Stanford in the top 10 next season.

Uh I dunno. Could be about right. I don't think that would by grossly over-ranked. We had a new coach with a new system and had a plethora of injuries this year. We really started clicking the last few games, and if we go out, and take care of business with Miami a Top 20-25 ranking would make sense.

Also, I have not bothered to look this up, but have seen/heard numerous times that Brian Kelly's teams usually take off in year 2. The improvements are like night and day. That, mixed with our schedule...It wouldn't be shocking if we finished inside the top 15

This website says that Oregon will have to replace 5 of their front 7 defensive starters. That right there is enough for them to go from #1 to #4 imo. It's not like he ranked them 15th.

I actually like the idea of pollsters using the entire squads experience level to determine preseason rankings and not just: (last years performance)+(returning QB,RB,WR) = high ranking.

The only thing that I find interesting about this pseudo-poll is that it seems to be a weathervane for how people are feeling about various programs. Taken as nothing other than that, this [once again] gives the lie to people who say that Notre Dame is no longer relevant. Not only are we regarded highly [deserved or not] but nine of our opponents this year made the list. I'd feel pretty good about myself seeing that.

These rankings are dumb.

Nobody even knows what players are going to play, returning players, juco transfers or anything. Ala has many top juco commits that have yet to step on the field or even come to campus. It is vastly premature to project rankings at this point.

Arkansas without Mallet and they are #7 and Auburn without sCam Newton and they are #5. GTFO!

My stance:

Rudy and Crist returning with a possibility of Floyd back. An open camp of good QBs. Solid backfield.

Fantastic receiving corp.

A lockdown defense with stars.

Fantastic coaching...

Grossly underranked at #20!

Pass me the Gatorade; nay, the GREEN KOOL-AID!

Go Irish!
