Farrel talks BS half the time so i wouldnt take anything he says seriously.

I do like our chances very much with IShaq though

also WTF is with the AC Slater avatar?

No I know, a lot of those guys will say anything to get listeners, viewers, subscriptions, etc. I probably posted subconsciously wanting some good news after French.

And the avatar...I guess you've never read barstoolsports?. Its basically a viral newspaper based out of Boston (and now New York) that posts recent sports and entertainment news (usually absurd and/or very funny). Basically an off-shoot of the whole "Haters gonna Hate" thing. If you have some downtime and are looking for some quick entertainment, check it out.

With the current roster, commitments, and recruits available...IShaq has the ability to contribute to the 2011 team, in a position of need. ND needs this kid. Period.

Not a 100% sure, but does he have any other visits scheduled?

I think sometimes it's a huge advantage to have that last impression (we got Niklas last which makes me feel good about landing him)

Per ISD:

He is going on an OV to Syracuse this weekend, and then will take an OV to Penn State. He still hasn't decided if he is going to visit Bama or USC.

He had a great visit, and Diaco got him much more comfortable (excited even) about transitioning to an OLB in the 3-4.

He also purchased a green ND on his trip, to put on the table at the Army All American game. God I hate the hat game.

I pray he stays away from USC. Bama is not a good fit for him at all so that's "meh", but USC has enough liars and used car salesman in their coaching staff that it always worries me. Young kids are impressionable.

Penn State will not be hard to beat out but Syracuse, because of their locality, may be in the driver's seat more than we think.

And the fact that both his parents went there...

Ishaq would be a great addition. I know his parents went to Syracuse, but I will be really suprised if that is his decision. If he looks at their roster, he has to question who is going to help him win. They are very empty when it comes to playmakers. Most of their kids are two and low three star players.

Being a big fish in a small pond is fun until you are taking beatdowns on a weekly basis. I know they won some games this year, but they were beating some weak opponents. They would never survive an ND type schedule. Further, how much exposure is he getting at obscure Syracuse. Can anyone tell me how many game they had on TV?? Um, not many.

I think ND has a great chance here. Good Luck Kelly. Ishaq, we look forward to seeing you in the gold helmet!!!

Visit to Syracuse went very well. Plans to visit Penn State next week for what could be his final visit. May still visit Alabama and USC. Will announce at the Army All-American game.

Well after he visits Penn State next weekend, the following weekend is Christmas and the weekend after that is New Years. The Army All-American Bowl is Jan. 7th. I'm not sure how he'd squeeze another visit to either Bama or U$C in that time frame. Plus flights from NY to LA would be outrageous.

I have a feeling those 2 are pretty much out of it by that reasoning.

I would be shocked if he chose Syracuse. You could make a case that Syracuse & ND are not even on the same level on a laundry list of matters such as prestige, talent on the team, national exposure, etc. I am a ND basketball fan, but Ishaq choosing Syracuse would be like a high school basketball player choosing ND over the likes of UNC, Kansas & Duke.

My cousin plays DE at PSU. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything about that visit.

Hey everyone, look! We have a semi celebrity on board! Dakota Royer's cousin! Tell him he is a stud, jumping out of that pool was awesome, and wish him well in happy valley. Unless he's playing ND

Definitely not Royer's cousin, haha. He is academically ineligible there though. I'm from the same area as Royer though. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't pan out in college. He didn't face that great of competition in high school.

Damn. Palmyra is somewhat near Manheim. Thought I had that one. Shame to hear about Royer's academics.

Will have in-house visits from PSU, ND and Syracuse this week, with ND visiting Wednesday. Kelly and Diaco will be there. Cuse has the last in home visit Thursday.

If it's down to us, Cuse, and PSU, I think it is clear that we're the best case scenario.

1. Young exciting coaching staff
2. Great education
3. Chance to play early

Maybe I'm biased, but I just don't see a great fit when you look at all 3 of these criteria

And if your Syracuse your offering

1. Closest proximity to home.
2. Family ties.
3. VERY early playing time.

Syracuse is very much in the mix and helped themselves quite a bit on Ishaq's OV.

I forgot winning, hopefully that's important to him. Syracuse is falling off the map fast in the Big East...especially with TCU on the way.

There is early playing time here as well, if you are good enough. Kelly has shown that he'll play you if your up to snuff.

Early playing time at Syracuse is very different than it is here - he likely starts there next year. And there is the family / home thing.

The real question for him is:

Early Playing Time, Family & Home vs. Academics, Tradition & Winning

It may come down to which he thinks gives him a better chance at the pros, and I'll be damned as to what the answer is to that question.

You mean the Syracuse team that went 7-5 under a second year coach? To me, it looks like they may have a program on the rise...
