Urban Meyer Steps Down. Recruits?

How many of Urbans recruits were on ND's radar? I know a lot of them will end up at FSU, but does anyone have a list of the possible guy's ND could snag?

Chase Hounshell had just been visited by ND coaches last week
Valdez Showers--is a top CB prospect and did have interest in ND
Clay Burton--of course he was a previous commit FWIW

Damn you beat me by a minute...I think Showers had interest in us, but we didn't offer him so scratch him off. This might help with Lyons, but I beleive Lyons is going to Stanford.

While I wish there were more guys ND could scoop up this will probably be a good thing for Skip Holtz down in South Florida. The "U" is down and without a coach as are the Gators. Yeah FSU will grab a bunch of guys but they didn't have a great season per se, especially when you consider the ACC Championship game loss.

So if Kelly can't grab a couple of these guys I'm hoping Lou's boy gets them. (as long as they don't have an impact on next year's season opener)

combine schools call them the "gatorcaines" and let rich rod coach them. also let them have their own correctional facility. it would be better then disney as a tourist attraction.

I dont know that Chris Petersen would get snubbed. He could probably have any job he wanted. Florida did get Urby from a mid major as well.

FSU will not end up with a "bunch" of Floridas recruits because they dont have any room. I dont expect thir cass to fall apar like Miami's class. They will bring someone in quickly after the bowl game and recruits dont have anywhere else to go if they want to stay in state.

Going to be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Skip must feel like he's won the lottery right now, he's going to do great in recruiting this year, good program on the rise for him.

I'm not sure how many recruits we could poach this year, but his "resignation" does set up some turmoil for next years' recruiting class. New coaching staff that may not hove the same relationships with recruits in Florida. If our staff can get in the ear of Florida recruits for next year right now, I think we'll be sitting pretty for next class IMO.

I don't see this as problematic for their recruiting this year or in the future. This is so much different than Randy Shannon being fired. Urban has time to help find a replacement and help with the transition of the new staff with the kids being recruited.

While I agree with you that this situation is much, much different than in Miami, I really see a few recruits leaving and a couple potential recruits looking elsewhere if for nothing else..,There will be a little bit of uncertainty at Florida as there is anywhere where coaching changes occur.
