The only recruit I blamed was lynch. And only then because he was our biggest cheerleader and then decommitted on the worst day possible. If he'd kept quiet about it until the bye week, I would've said godspeed to him.

Lynch gave up on himself. ND would have gotten him through with his degree. He took the easy way out. In the future, he will kick himself for the decision. I don't know what the average NFL career is, but the ND degree is forever.

Back to this thread. We really need Savon. (I think we have him. That's why Justice bailed. I usually hate the silent verbal, but not here.)

I just checked on him on Rivals, and apparently has a visit planned to Florida on 12/10.

If he ends up at Florida he is a total sucker. He does not fit that offense at all but I'm sure Urban will try to sell it to him like he is the best fit since sliced bread.

What I will say is that it was a shame that he didn't make it to the Army game. That was an incredible atmosphere and I think it would've locked him up. I still think we have a very solid shot at him and if we keep winning we probably get him.

What does this mean? It makes no sense, is grammatically incorrect and you posted it twice. I'm guessing there was alcohol involved.

He's saying Savon could start and be a punishing back for us, ala Robert Hughes, for the next 4 years.

Good call. This one took me a while.

In other news...

I'd love to see this kid in South Bend next year, and I have to think we have a good recruiting pitch now. Something along the lines of, "We've got the defense, and we've got the horses up front. But I'll be honest, were young at QB, so were gonna run the hell out of you."

So I invite you Savon, but only if you think you can thrash opposing Ds. If you can, the results may just take care of themselves.

(And I can't say it enough tonight... SUCK IT TROJANS! GO IRISH GO!)

Yeah I don't think there's any doubt that the offense SHOULD lean on the running game next year much more than Kelly spread teams of the past. Even if we do land one of the two dual-threat QBs we're going after OR Rees, Hendrix, Massa, Crist develop significantly, I think we saw last night that a solid running game (power AND speed- let's not forget that Wood started 2 TD drives off with a big run) is what this offense needs, because at this point in time the passing attack isn't where it needs to be yet. Huggins has to know that he can be a big part of this.

have any of you ever watched kellys spead offenses of the past? the running game is an integral part of his offense, and it always will be...it just helps to have an elusive, fast QB which we do not have yet...

regardless, BK out-rushed weis running attacks in each of his years at cincy and this was without a mobile QB.

First Post- Scout.com claims there are changes to Savon's list of schools under consideration. Any insight here?

Looks as though he dropped Pitt and FL but added USC..... Below was a quote from his dad.

“Right now they are Rutgers, Notre Dame, North Carolina, USC and we’re unsure who the last one is. It could be Tennessee, Wisconsin or Auburn, but right now we haven’t made that decision as a family.”

I would hope we would be able too. They are a couple years away from winning.

yeah but wat better feeling would there be then to take Rutgers back once again (in your own state) just like the Lattimore and the SC guys are doing at South Carolina. Being a Jersey guy, everyone up here has a lot of pride when it comes to their home state, and it's not very easy leaving home sometimes

i think huggins is the type of back ready for action not sure if hes the kind to wait or sit behind another back (wood) or Baxter at usc, saying that i think hes going to take his chances with rutgers because hes going to be #1 on the depth chart come spring.

Roc,
YES. We do need him. He is the type of back that you can ride to victory. We do have Cierre, Gray and Roberson, but Savon reminds me of Theo Riddick. Good speed and change of direction with power.

If Savon is worried about getting playing time, he will see the field as a freshman. He won't be the feature guy, but will get time. Possible that he becomes the KO and PR guy.

In 2012, he would be one of the big contributors. I hope we get him, but I can see his hometown strings pulling him to Rutgers. He is probably envisioning Ray Rice type stuff. The big problem is that Rutgers needs major help on the OL. ND is deep at OL.
