For the last 6 out of 7 games ND's defence has been strong. Navy excluded and I don't see USC throwing the option at us. I expect the D to hold them to under 22. If the O performs we get the W.

ND-27 USC-21....I turn 30 Saturday, the wifey is throwing me a big party, starting the day tailgating and going to KU-MU, and ending w/ this one....I hope the Irish give me a HUGE B-Day present! (Sadly, I highly doubt the Jayhawks will be able to.).....If the Irish pull it off, the night will spiral out of control w/ Beers and beer pong etc., if they don't I could end up face down in a river of Jameson.

mmmmmmm.......Jameson.

Don't think it'll be the whiskey, beer pong for sure!!

I'm going....30-17 I R I S H
We ARE ND!

This is going to be a very interesting game. It's all going to come down to our defense playing well. USC (historically) rarely has back to back stinkers so I don't see us dominating them the way Oregon State did. I think if our defense keeps them in the 20s we will have a very good shot. I'm assuming Riddick will be back for this game and after watching his highlights on the jumbotron at Yankee stadium I can't wait to see him back in action. What a dynamic player.

Going to guess ND 27 USC 21.

So I'm assuming Kurt Herbstreit will be doing this game for ABC/ESPN. It should be interesting to see what that duche has to say on gameday and during the game.

I cannot wait until this game. Saturday is going to be such a long day. I hate waiting for the 8 pm game, but I hope it is worth it.

Gotta agree with you on the long wait. I petty much missed the fourth quarter of the Army game – I was "napping" having cracked my first beer at noon based on a traditional, ingrained 1 PM start time.

Now that winter has invaded Minnesota big time, I may just flip the switch to hibernation mode come Friday night/Saturday morning.

Go Irish, beat the daylight savings time out of USC!

If the defense plays mediocre, then he'll probably make reference to them being a high school team.

Can anyone provide insight as to whether or not Barkley is playing?

Or provide a link with this information?

My phone is slacking today so its frustrating bouncing around from link to link.

Not like the defense needs any motivation against SC, but having Herby doing the game I hope they prove a point to him and make him look like a complete fool on national TV. SMH "high school team"

I doubt Barkley plays this week-end. High ankle sprains takes longer than 1 week to heal. If he does play, he won't be a 100%. Let's bring the heat on him.

I read multiple sources on Sunday that said Barkely was done for the year. Don't know if that has changed.

Theo Riddick had a high ankle sprain and has been out for weeks so Barkely's return this season is doubtful. Howvwer, USC is still a very loaded team as far as talent. They are not the most disciplined and they do not have the greatest game plans but anyone who thinks the game is a done deal becaue Barkely wont be at the helm is crazy. M. Mustain has been around for awhile. Not as a starter but he is not an untrained freshman. He has playmakers all around him and this will be a very difficult road game.

If Barkley is out I think we need to play a lot of Zones/coverage to confuse who ever the QB is.

I had a parent-teacher conference with my 'source' in the USC atheltic department yesterday (for those that don't know, she works for Pat Haden, and worked under Mike Garrett for years). She told me Barkley was out for ND and that Haden even called Mustain into his office for a chat yesterday. Now, this is not official and she could be wrong, but so far she has never steered me wrong regarding SC info.

And as a side note, she was really worried that she'd lose her job when Garrett was fired, and was worried about how Haden would treat his new department staff (Garrett was great to his employees). I told her that everyone associated with ND had nothing but great things to say about Haden the man (not the broadcaster), and not to worry. Well, they LOVE Haden over there, and she told me what a wonderful man he is. He saw my student (6th grade) reading a book outside his office while waiting for her mom, and he opened up a huge drawer of SC stuff and let her have at it, just b/c she was reading. Her husband told me he's as close to a saint as he's ever met...he was that effusive in his praise.

Now, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Sinple, actually. SC is now being run by a ND type of man...a man with principles and integrity. No more thugs being able to miss class and act like idiots all the time. No more thumbing their noses at the NCAA. Just think about the following:

* Do you think Dillon Baxter would have gotten suspended for missing classes and breaking team rules under Carroll/Garrett?

* Do you think Baxter would have gotten suspended for a cart ride under Garrett?

* Do you think Ambles would have ever gotten kicked off the team under Carroll/Garrett?

The answer to all these questions is a resounding HELL NO! When Joe KcKnight got busted for that SUV thing, Pete Carroll tried until the 11th hour to get him on the plane to San Fransisco. Now, there isn't even a question about those types of things. It's just as we said when Haden got hired...SC will no longer be allowed to operate as it had all decade, and that will kill Kiffy-boy and his dirty staff.

Ba da ba-ba-ba...I'm loving it!

Great stuff. Maybe you should forward you information to Brian Kelly.

Haden said it when he took over at USC, he wants to do it the right way and the first thing he said after that was Notre Dame.

I would really love to see our defense play one of their finest games in the coming match-up. Upholding the zero touchdowns given up in the last few games would be fresh.
