Nice article on ISD about him. He's going to announce in the next few weeks for either UNC or ND, (possibly Clemson). For the most part he said it's down to NC and us. I'd like to see him run this offense.

The more I see of this kid the more I like him. I really hope he comes to ND.

Wow they must have made it private. It was available for me last night, and I don't have a subscription. Bizarre.

For those who don't know, it's us or North Carolina, with Clemson maybe having a shot. From everything that I've read on him, NC is still the team to beat guys. However, ND did VERY well for itself and could very well land this kid. Brey helped us out as well, as Golson liked what Brey had to say regarding basketball. His announcement should be in a few weeks b/c of his early entry aspirations.

He sounded excited about the potential for both football and basketball... He said he will not be basing it on possible ncaa sancitions dont kow what that means

The best thing is the kid is an early enrollment prospect, meaning he can get in the weight room sooner and get acclimated to the offense. Going to be interesting to see how this one finishes up.

I'm sure that will factor into his decision...

I'm sure it factors in his decision. He wouldn't be looking around if it didn't. I can't see any scenario where the NCAA doesn't strike UNC really hard. As much as I dislike U$C, this is way worse.

Everett Golson can flat out play. He is elusive, he has a big time arm and at 3.8 he must be a smart kid (I hope that book smarts translates to football smarts). His size is a non-issue in a mobile qb who can move the pocket (he can look around the rush rather than over it). He has the potential to be off the charts successful in Kelly's offensive scheme.

Would it be too much to compare him to Dennard Robinson? He plays the game an awful lot like Robinson, he is about the same size and is ranked basically the same as Robinson was coming out of high school. I think that he has that kind of potential (note I am saying if everything goes right he has the potential to be that kind of impact player at N.D.)

I really hope he decides to come here to help wake up the echoes.

Let me start off by saying that I would love to have Golson at ND, but his size is a draw back. I agree that he's a play maker, but not sure he could carry the full load all season and at the very least ND would have to have a capable back up to take over when he would inevitably have to sit out. If you've taken notice Forcier has had to spell Robinson on more than one occasion. I have a feeling that if Kelly could bring in Golson and Brissett, that Golson would end up at the slot.

Kelly's spread and Rich Rod's spread are so different though. Michigan's spread is a run 1st. So Robinson is carrying the ball a ton for a QB that's where his injurys are coming from. Golson wouldn't be running nearly as much as Robinson. What Golson would do is open up the running game a lot more. Defenses would have to think twice on the read options because of his running ability.

And there is no way be get Golson and Brissett. It's one, the other or neither.

Golson doesn't play the game like Robinson. Robinson is a run first quarterback, and Golson is a pass first quarterback. Nevertheless, Golson does have some wheels.

I think the run first/pass first difference is more a system difference. And actually I prefer a pass first quarterback who runs well, to mix things up a bit. They try him at slot only if he fails to rise up the depth charts at qb...this kid's arm is a huge weapon.

We are not going to bring in Golson and Brissett. If anything, its going to be one or the other. BK needs a qb that can run and keep the defensive ends honest on zone reads but doesn't have to carry the work load of running the ball 25 times a game. I like BK's spread over RR's spread as far as their use of the qb. Could you imagine a potential backfield with Golson and Huggins? Are you kidding me? Long way to go before that happens but the possibilities are exciting.

Since we are dreaming a little bit here.., Golson and Huggins in the game together would be amazing.

even in oregons system which is run first Derron Thomas does not get hit that much or run too much... Denard is just freaky pat white was much safer than denard is

Oregons offense is not a run first from the qb position. They run with LaMichael James and Thomas keeps the defense honest but he is not a run first qb. He is a pass first qb for sure and runs only when things break down and on a few zone reads.

thats what i was saying but there offense is run first.. masoli was run first I think they want to protect Thomas but I was saying run first spread offenses dont run their quarterbacks that often unless their quarterback is Denard Robinson who is a runningback who happens to throw the ball... basically our qb running the ball is a benefit plus keeps defenses honest it is not the main option
