After reading more on this guy, the best fit for him is absolutely ND. There is a lot of negative vibe on his catching ability (one guy went as far as "hands of stone"). Mark my words, this kid's future is on the defensive side of the ball.

They said he could try WR & OLB when he came to campus, and he will see playing time wherever he ends up.

French would be a huge get for us and hopefully get our recruiting back on track. He could play on either side of the ball, and his athleticism would be nice no matter what position he ends up at.

He would be a freakishly tall WR, and given that the team seems interested in him at OLB, that makes me think he's not built to be tall and lean in the mold of Calvin Johnson (although lean is a comparative term there) in the long run. I have never seen a picture of him though, so it's hard to speculate on his ultimate build type.

Offense or defense, I don't care, the kid's a freak athlete and he would do great here. This would be a huge get for our recruiting given what's happened the last couple of weeks.

Maybe. It could've also been an exchange like:

French: "I really like ND and it's an awesome place. Definitely the best school and my parents like it a lot. But I'm really not sure about outside linebacker."
Coach: "Son, if you really want to play offense we'll give you a shot at playing offense. Trust me, with athletic ability like yours you will see the field no matter where you play. We just feel you have the potential to be an All-American at OLB with your speed and size."

If it was something like that, I would not be surprised if we were even with Iowa or maybe even leading. But who knows, it's all conjecture.

Several posters on Rivals have said they saw Christian French on campus and at the game yesterday. There may be a development that the premium sites have been waiting for before making an announcement.

dude i believe irish sports daily. But from what ive heard and all this he was there. But i believe irish sports daily, its all speculation.
