They have the best player in the country (albeit a probable cheater) and can put up points on anyone. Do they survive the allegations against Newton and make the national title game?

My surprise pick of the night: they beat Bama and lose in the SEC title game to South Carolina.

Bama beats Auburn.

One loss team jumps over Boise/TCU to play Oregon

Looks like your prognostication is already at least partially right -- USC over FL.

Oh btw, I was acutally going to post this as a new thread, but Lou Holtz was like 0-10 his first year at USC. Kinda puts it in perspecive.

Oregon would fist hump Auburn. Auburn's pass defense is like 90th in the country. Boise deserves its shot and after NDs thumping of Utah, TCUs win looks unimpressive as was their last second victory over SDSU. Coupled with Oregons lack lustre W @ Cal. Its going to get interesting, I predict an Oregon/BSU NC game.

It'll be Oregon/Auburn if Auburn isn't slammed for paying Newton.

So TCU loses credit for killing Utah because we beat them. But all of a sudden everyone forgets that Boise's one big time win this year was over VT, who got beat by James Madison. I think it's a wash...

TCU will have no ranked teams under their undefeated umbrella. And Boise's closest victory was a 3 point win over #14 Virginia Tech. TCU and BSU share OregonSt, BSU beat them by more, and TCU scraped by SDSU.

PS: Auburn is going to lose to Alabama. Hello Oregon vs BSU.

Perhaps. If anything, it'll probably be a shootout. Alabama's defense is suspect, IMO.

If Oregon plays anything like they did last night, Boise State would dominate them.

Auburn proves once and for all one player can make all the difference at this level... they block downfield really well and are very average at everything else...

but they have Cam Newton.

I don't think it's just that easy. Auburn's run defense is ranked 12th, and they play in the SEC. Oregon's spread offense is run oriented. They've had good success throwing the ball, but I've watched them play. They pass reasonably well because everyone is cheating their safeties up in run support. Oregon's receivers are good, but not great. If Auburn's front 7 shut down Oregon's run game, then I think the fist humping would be the other way around.

I think its gonna be awhile before anything comes from all these investigations. The only difference here between the Bush investigation is that it appears that all universities are cooperating (if you remember, USC was arrogantly defiant, and stonewalled that investigation - and then complained that the investigation took along time)

I think Auburn makes the title game and loses to ORE. Which is a good thing for Auburn because its my personal opinion that Newton is dirty. i think it would be better to lose the title game, then to have to give it back in the future. ditto for the heisman vote, he would be better to remove himself from the running of the heisman, because even Reggie Bush didnt want to be the first to have the heisman rescinded.

Most likely, this is a cash grab for Newton. He'll win the heisman, and get his NFL contract before he has to give up the heisman. by that time, he will be set. all he would have to deal with is some public humilation regarding getting paid in college and giving back the heisman; but he wont care at all at that point because he will be sitting pertty with an NFL contract.

I personally think Auburn loses one out of their next two. Their defense is vulnerable.

I already called the Alabama shot. BTW, Bush was already gone when his stuff came around. Newton will HAVE to testify in court since he is here now.

Boise State would not jump and will not jump TCU. If a non AQ makes the national championship, it will be TCU. I think Auburn will lose to Alabama and win the SEC championship and end up in Sugar Bowl.

Interesting note: For all those who wanted Les Miles fired at the begining of this year, he is a 7 point loss (against a team who will eventually be forced to vacate their wins) away from an undefeated season in SEC West (which is loaded this year). When does that arguement start to take form?

TCU has one game left, Boise has 3. One against a ranked team. My bet is that BSU jumps TCU after Boise whips up on Nevada. TCU has exactly 1 victory over a ranked team, who could be out of the top25 at the end of the year.

Yup. It's probably going to be close, but if Nevada loses to Boise St and nobody else, I'd bet on the Broncos over TCU. And Utah is on the edge of the top 25, if they drop out TCU's schedule turns to garbage. And VTech could very well be a top 10 team by the time all is said and done, especially if they beat Miami this week.

Bottom line, I'd be more nervous if I was a horned frog than if I were a bronco.

I have zero faith that the NCAA would get him in court before the end of the season(they just dont seem to work that fast). if he gets subpeona'd after the season, cant he just withdraw from school and coast into the combine and the NFL? even if he lands in court, he can take the 5th.

every NFL prognosticator I have seen loves this kids' skills. Even if he were to drop out today, he is still going high in the draft. if not first.
