Whew, I feared the worst when opening the thread...but ahh...

Great news and hopefully it keeps the rest of the recruits from getting jittery..and helps land some other potential recruits who might be on the fence...Tuitt, Rabasa and Councell are all on board and I am glad to have them...

Also, glad to see for guys like them that one's word actually means something...unlike Prestwood, Burton and Lynch (as well as their parents). The later will learn the hard way when they get left in the dust at FSU and Florida and that promises made to them will be broken as well...

I really think it has nothing to do with Florida or Georgia kids. It has to do with the kid himself. Do they like the school, the weather, the coach, the system.

I am extremely excited about Tuitt. He has huge upside. And I like what I have read about him as a person. As a parent, wouldn't you like to know this type of kid is coming to ND and feel good about your son joining with him. And then when they get there, they have a role model like Manti to greet them. We have a lot of great kids at ND. Lets keep adding to the bunch. Kids that are good athletes, good people, and want to raise the Irish Nation back to prominance.

Go Irish, and thank you Mr. Tuitt!

We have to go after the right kind of players no matter where they are from. We have Irish level players all over the country. That is the great thing about ND, we canvas the entire country.

Now, I would hate to start ignoring the state of Florida just because a couple kids leave or decommit. For every Spencer Boyd tranfer, Lynch/Prestwood/Burton decommit we have arguably our best football player from the state of Florida in Ian Williams. Or our best running back in Armondo Allen. Or our punter, center, our up and coming star in Louis Nix. What about Lo Wood, Motta, Nwanko, and Bruce Heggie!

I am one who wants the best kids, no matter where they are from!

Go Irish, and thanks Tuitt for committing to come to ND!

While the prestwood decommit surprised me the burton and lynch ones didn't. Aarons HS hc has been in his ear all along trying to get him to stay in florida. Burtons brother is at UF. To simply suggest stop recruiting the state of florida is not your best suggestion of the day. Kids change their mind all the time, we win some, we lose some. ND football isn't going to shut camp because a few kids from florida don't want to be here.

My heart stopped when I saw folks were commenting on this thread....thank God it is good news. Tuitt seems more "stable" than Lynch...he has moved into my #1 spot as favorite recruit.

I'm even more proud to have him as my avatar now.
I'm not getting my hopes up like I did with lynch and the others until we see something signed...but I am happy now.

Obviously this isn't a 100% accurate, but it sure seems to me that the quiet kids like Stephon who just go about their business and do the occasional interview, stay true to their commitments. Where the guys talking to everybody, and talked about on every recruiting website, (Lynch, and in the past Chris Martin) are the flip floppers.

Did i miss understand something here? No one suggested to stop recruiting in the state of Florida. Georgia Domer was obviously joking.

Yeah...but that's because he didn't understand a joke. Nobody's actually saying we should stay out of Florida, at least I hope not.

Yea I'm just trying to relay that it was a joke. We need to still recruit Florida hard.

I don't know if this has been brought up lately, but you guys that are deprecating these three for reneging on their commitments know that we have guys on the roster who previously committed elsewhere, don't you? Examples include TJ Jones, KLM, Danny Spond, Luke Massa, Louis Nix, and Collinsworth. You wanna say something about these kids or their parents?

Jonas Gray, Gary Gray, Trevor Robinson, Brian Smith, the frosh OT who was committed to Stanford...just off the top of my head

Nice list, much better than mine...these guys have all had a large impact on the field for the past few years.

I want to thank them for sending their kids to ND. :)

PS And I would really love to get a Florida commit bail at the last second on Meyer and come over ND.

Stephon Tuitt is one of the few new players that I could see adding tremendous impact immediately to the defense. Power---push the blocking away---disrupt the play flow---free everybody to attack---stuff that we've been missing on the D-line with any consistency. He'd be our DE equivalent to Big Ian at NT. Too bad the big man won't be back to play alongside Tuitt with more "excited" DEs on the other. On offense I can see other immediate impact frosh, but this is about Tuitt and the exceptional power he brings.

And do you want to see what kind of kid he is?

In the past couple of weeks, as Notre Dame struggled on the football field it has also struggled to hold onto recruits. It has lost three four-star commitments so far in defensive ends Clay Burton and Aaron Lynch and offensive tackle Jordan Prestwood. But they’re not going to lose their four-star defensive end from Georgia.

At least that’s what Stephon Tuitt told me this week. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Monroe Area star told me he’s sticking with the Fighting Irish regardless of how this season shakes out.

“It just makes me more determined,” Tuitt said. “I’m going to Notre Dame for football, but that’s not the only thing I’m going there for. I’m also going for the school and the academics and the history and the tradition. None of that has changed.”

Tuitt said as he watches the Irish play it becomes more evident how he can help then on defense.

“It’s kind of like our school,” he said. “We had a couple of bad seasons. But we worked really hard and fought our way through it and got better and now we’re winning.”

Monroe Area was 0-20 the previous two seasons. The Purple Hurricanes (8-1) face Lumpkin County in a Region 8AAA play-in game Friday.

I think it is fine to criticize poor behavior, not the person. But a 17 or 18-year-old kid that commits to one school, then changes once, is beyond reproach; that is not bad behavior. Pandering then creating high drama, because you have found an audience that will feed your ego, because of their own desperate needs is a lot different from a simple rethink. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Period.

That quote is the best news I've read on this site all week. If we keep Tuitt I firmly believe the recruiting class will hold together and this season will be an abberation. Sounds like a great kid.

EXACTLY!!!! I personally feel that a certain recruit and parent loved the attention and drama. It was almost like a soap opera and in the back of my mind I thought about this more than once about a month ago. I'm sure they enjoyed the attention. I will not bad mouth the kid or the mother, but the behavior is not tolerable in my opinion. It had to do with getting attention and living in drama. It is time to move on for sure.

While I kind of agree with you, I don't think any of them did it via text message on a gameday after the worst week in program history. And then refused to talk to the coaching staff.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: the only way he could have made it less classy would be to finish by kicking Kelly in the nuts.

Edit: On a more related note, I agree with OMM: Tuit looks like he has the pure power to make a real impact right away. Very excited to have this kid on board.
