Teammate of 2011 ND verbal Jordan Prestwood. His team finished 3rd in a 7-7 passing competition at Auburn and the Tigers offered on the spot. He was supposed to camp at ND recently but passed up beautiful South Bend for an invite to Dave Clarkson's Dreamakers Super 7 QB Camp on Maui. Rather than rub shoulders with Dayne Crist, Coney got instruction from Joe Montana. Hmm, sounds like a toss up to me. Coney earned his invite through competition at Clarkson's regional camps held in 13 cities around the country. Clarkson was Jimmy Clausen's mentor.

2010 Dreammakers Super 7
Kyle Boehm, Archbishop Mitty San Jose, CA, committed to CAL
Jerrard Randle, Chaminade Madonna College Prep Hollywood, FL (undecided)
Brett Hundley Chandler AZ (undecided)
Bennie Coney Plant City, FL
Jeff Lindquist Mercer Island, WA (undecided)
Max Wittek Mater Dei Santa Ana, CA, committed to USC
Jacoby Brissett Dwyer West Palm Beach, FL (undecided).

Coney appears to be the only underclassmen in the group.

Claims a ND offer. Currently has ND as his No. 1 choice. This is going to be a long recruiting process for a QB. Mauk, Crow, Keil, and now Coney. Lots of talent.

Denard Robinson like with a better long ball?? Ok maybe its a little premature for that but certainly looks like a solid dual treat qb. Great to see the interest from qb all over the country. I like the fact that he runs a spread in highschool.

Lots of talent on that list and you left off Pike. I like where we are sitting in the recruiting process for a 2012 qb.

Will we do it Texas style on junior day? "Okay guys, we only have two spots. Which two of you want to commit right now?"

We had 4.86 in his profile from a previous report.
Rivals has now him at 4.82.
Scout has him at 5.10.

I've lowered him to 4.82, simply cause it's the lowest number I could find.

Keep in mind 40 times are recorded without a football or pads running in a straight line wiht a track start while a coach with a fat thumb records his star. They're totally meaningless ... Blah, blah, blah.
... as several posters will point out a hundred times or so during this next recruiting cycle.

Testing times vary. Last year the 40 times at the U.S. Army Combine were about 0.6 to 0.8 higher than previously posted numbers for all the participants. Bennie Coney participated in the Nike Combine in Orlando in March 2010 and ran a 5.19 with a 4.91 Shuttle, both pedantic numbers. However there were 4.5 and 4.6 times also recorded there and one DB is listed at 4.39. Here's the link, Orlando Nike Combine Results - ESPN RISE

Come on now, I'm not trying to be a downer here or anything but I can see a big difference between bennie's speed and DR's. Also keep in mind he's doing this against high school talent not div 1. I'm sure he's a great player I just think that statement is a little premature given what DR has done thus far.

Not to mention Bennie runs a 4.8 40, Denard runs a 4.3.

Exactly...Looking at his tape he doesn't have DR speed or even elite speed. He is quick and shifty, but not blazing speed. I do really like his passing, he seems to have great touch on his ball. He throws a real good deep ball.

I don't mean to be a downer either but are these stats correct?

STATS
'10: Passing 62% completion, 1613 yds, 14 tds, 18 Ints; Rushing 89 yards, 7 tds

18 ints versus 14 tds?

He is also only a junior with a LOT of room to improve, what i meant was that he appears to be in the DR MOLD, but that he has shown great arm strength.

That guys makes very nice throws in some pretty tight coverage. I don't like the 18 INTs or the height though.

That was my concern as well. Having had 18 Ints vs. 14 Tds. I'm sure the coaches could work with him and I believe he is talented, but that's alot of interceptions to touchdowns.

I know im tripping balls on kool aid powder right now but is it SO BAD to ask that once we get a mobile QB and some really good RBs in that we couldnt put up Oregon-like numbers?
