Is it?

I agree with everything else you've said, but I think we've taken one step forward and one step back so far.

The good news is I think we're ready to start leaping forward, but so far there's nothing about this team that screams "better than last year."

i still think it is improved over last season's. as much as the defense got gashed today, it still hung in there and held msu when we needed them to.

and the offense is getting better with each game. when they get a rythm going, it's nice to watch. i think once they get the system down pat, they'll be unstoppable. last season's offense sputtered at the end of the season. i see this year's offense hitting it's stride at the end of the season.

i know, that's all speculation and wishful thinking, but based on what i've seen so far....i think bk's got these boys playing better ball.

Honestly, I think it is best that younger backs get the reps. Armando is really not that great. I mean he broke a 20 some yard run last week and they pointed out it was his longest from scrimmage..................ever! Dude was supposed to be a game changer when he came here and he really has done next to nothing special. I think Cierre Wood will be much better by year's end.

Yeah Wood was a game changer tonight.. Didn't Allen carry this team on his back at times? Get off the Wood bus because even his kick off returns weren't impressive.

That is an idiotic statement. For example, Florida had been completely irrelevant for years and years before they became the perennial power they are today under Meyer.

We have the right coach. We have some of the right players. And if two last second plays go the other way everyone is saying "woo!! 3-0!" instead of "ahh the sky is falling." Seriously people pay WAY too much attention to W-L.

When i read these "rah-rah stick with it, dont give up!" posts I feel like im listening to a bunch of soccer moms cheer on their 7 year old children during a brutal game.

Well we all deal with grief differently , this way is known as denial. Problem is now I am starting to have issues with coaching as well as talent. Hopefully this changes.

What are we supposed to do? Roll over and never watch Notre Dame again?

how quickly people forget that this team has had to learn a new system on offense and our defense has depth issues and are learning on the fly cuz tenuta was a terrible coach.

this years team is much improved over last season. the season ain't over yet. i'm not happy we are 1-2, but i think we will bounce back.

keep in mind, ty and cw started off like firecrackers and petered out. so maybe, we need start off slow and build up during bk's coaching tenure.

Fine, these are all good points but still man, this seems like a familiar song and dance. Wait till this and wait for that recruiting good yada yada............. I mean I hope it does get better because it is really just so frustrating to see the same thing over and over.

I'm really bad about talking ND up before the season. It isn't fun being let down year after year, but I stick in there. But like some have pointed out, folks get tired of just sitting back and watching a losing team.

Can't you see how that sounds familiar...WE NEVER LOST A GAME BY MORE THAN A TOUCHDOWN ALL LAST YEAR.

W-L is what got Weis fired and, right now, Kelly's team is looking a lot like last years. I think Weis and Kelly are both great coaches, I think the program is headed in the right direction, I think we've got a ton of talent but until THE PLAYERS develop some killer instinct we are a 500 team, at best, against good competition.

Aren't some of the recruits ND has offer this year some of Weis offers like Wayne Lyons?

And if you look back at some of my Save Charlie posts from last year, I said he was finally getting the idea of college recruiting giving Theo Riddick as my example. In Chuck's 1st couple years recruiting, he never would have looked twice at Theo. He finally started to understand the college game in my opinion, which lead to offering better athletes.

Bottom line guys.., we aren't where we want to be yet. I am pissed and disappointed again.., but patience is needed here. We cannot expect a new coach with a new system in place to work magic overnight. I wish that were the case, and I am very disappointed. The thing that pisses me off is look at how many games we have lost in the past few years by under a touchdown. It just pisses me off that we don't get it done. When we start doing this..., (and we will).., things will be good for us and we wont have to drink so much kool-aid and think things are different when they aren't yet. Keep the faith..., lets rally the troops and eventually we will get this thing done. The future is very bright.

Lets face it! Notre Dame with there academic standards can not get the athletes, like those of Alabama, USC , I have fought the good fight for many years living in Alabama, but now it is a battle I can not win anymore.

Ok i know that whenever ND and recruting are talked about it comes to this, if ND rele wants to compete, i mean like ever year, do we go back to the old ways and recruit anyone? im not saying im for or against it, we have the coach in place, now we just need the players, as much as RKGs look on paper, can they win championships? (just the thoughts of a near dead via 3 simultaneous hart attacks ND fan)

For better or worse, wins and losses are the stat most people look at, correct? This post in its context made me laugh out loud, alone in my front room. naked. putting war paint on my face. sharpening my vegetable peeler. this is my rifle, this is my gun......

You mean like the athletes that Boise State and TCU have been raking in over the last few years ? Or do you mean the elite prospects that Michigan State has brought in over the last few recruiting cycles ?

Our recruiting has been fine. And save for a few outliers who probably wouldn't have done well in the Notre Dame culture to begin with, our standards have been fine as well.

Clearly, we have things to fix with the program, but academic standards doesn't strike me as the most obvious.

Oh my god. Now we are blaming the 3 straight top end recruiting classes. Guys bad coaching= mediocre football.

New coach = needs time to adjust. For Christ Sakes we are pretty frickin talented in case you haven't noticed

Let our coaches coach. They will not perform miracles overnight. Give them some time, and try to have some faith. I think we have alot of talent and a good coaching staff in place. Wish we could run for BCS Championship this year and every year because we are that great..., but that is ridiculous to expect that and we will have alot of success in the years to come. I am pissed off we lost the last two..., but I still hold out hope for a decent season with some improvement and a hope for a great future.
