This week everyone picked MSU over ND on College Gameday. Is there something i'm missing her? I know MSU isn't a bad football team, but are they really that good?

they are much better than Michigan as a team... the smart pick is MSU.

I like being the underdog!
Time for the boys to come out and play their best. Start opening that offense up!

it's going to be a tough, tough atmosphere tonight. i'm very interested to see how Kelly handles this team. espn will tee off on ND for the rest of time, whether they're 10-0 or 0-10. get used to it.

I used to say this too... now reality has set in... over the past three years we can complain about how close the team has been and this and that... truth is they have not been a very good football team...

and 'not very good' teams don't get a ton of respect and love from the media... seriously win games or get used to it...

we win the next four games and they will love to love us and suddenly BK will have found a way to wave some magic 'speed wand' on our defense... continue to spin our wheels and this team won't get any respect... and here's the thing ND Naiton needs to hear...

WE DON'T/WON'T DESERVE ANY.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. Take care of biz on the field boys and forget everyone else. I truly want to see this team take their practice prep this week and lay some wood tonight and continue to come together as a unit.

I can't argue with them, it was BCS last year, and we fell on our faces. The defense looked slow last year, and the bulk of the starters returned, so, naturally, one would assume they are still slow. We need to win, and people will get confidence back in the Irish. A lot of these analysts have been burned by ND since 2000, so I can't fault them for naturally being wary.

Michigan losing to UMass.... I'm really starting to think we might be in more trouble than I anticipated for this game. I don't fault the experts at all.

I like it. These guys should have the impression that it's them against the world right now. The more the ND players think that the only people who believe in them are the people in the locker room, the bigger of a chip on their shoulder they're going to have.

Robinson just threw a 66 yard TD pass. I'd bet Michigan wins this going away. Although, I don't think they are that good anyway.

UMass scoring 24 on you is shameful. Sparty's secondary is just as bad as UM, hopefully Crist will be in all game.

Don't fear the reaper gang, everything is all right.

Why torture yourself?

Why torture yourself?

That show is unwatchable. Just draw a circle on the wall and bash your head against it for 2 hours every saturday at 10:00 am. Much better way to spend your morning.

They say our defense is slow because that is the easy, lazy way to say they weren't good last week. They don't watch every game, all they know is we lost to MU and Robinson had 500 yards. Saying we don't have athletes is the easy explanation to make them look like they have a clue. ND has more talent than everybody on that schedule except for USC and we better outcoach that scumbag Kiffy.

I watch it too even though I know better. You just have to be able to filter out the stupid crap these guys spout and not take it seriously. They know talking about ND gets ratings, whether its positive or negative. At least they still talk about us.

Now that I said all that........F*CK Desmond Howard! What an illiterate scumbag piece of sh!t. God I hate that a$$hole. Total moron. The first week he said except for wr, te, rb, and qb, we had no weapons on offense. Really d!ckbreath, how many teams have OL catching td's because that's the only position left. God I hate him.......See what I mean, don't take it seriously!

I couldn't agree more. Everyone on this board seems to hate ESPN because they pick against us. But, they've been right. They aren't hating on us or being unfair. We haven't been winning. Lou Holtz has been the least accurate prognosticator on that show. That's because he keeps picking us.

We're going to win lots of games with BK, but we have yet to prove anything yet.

A very fair pick, IMO.

Michigan State has a far superior defense compared to Michigan's, who just gave up 37 points to Massachusetts. They also have a solid quarterback, a corps of great running backs, some great receivers and a solid tight end. Not to mention a fantastic linebacker corps and a fairly decent defense.

It is going to be a very tough game tonight. Dayne Crist needs to be on his A game and Michael Floyd will HAVE to step it up tonight.

RE: Motta

RE: Motta

Huh? I thought Motta's played pretty well.

Don't get me wrong, I hate to single out one guy, but we've given up 5 td's so far this year, he's screwed up on 4 of them.

Purdue--Marve's long run, yeah B. Smith got sucked in, but watch Motta on that play if you can. He's the safety on that side and follows the receiver out of bounds like he's on a leash. Doesn't even turn his head as Marve runs by him.

MU--
First TD after the int, he was the safety to the side with trips, didn't cover anybody.

Second TD. The actual TD wasn't his fault, but the long completion to the 1 was. Same thing as first TD, trips to his side, he doesn't cover anyone.

Third TD, the Robinson 87 yarder. Teo got absolutely destroyed and blown 10 yards downfield and pancaked, H. Smith tripped over Teo's corpse. But Motta was the playside safety on that play, he got cut blocked and layed there like a fish...can't happen.

Fourth Mich TD. Not Zeke's fault.

Trust me, I like the kid, think he can be good, but he is out of position a lot, and not very good in run support. Probably not totally his fault as he shouldn't really be in there, but no one left to put in for him. The two pass plays with the trips may not be entirely on him, might be coach's fault, due to scheme.

I haven't wasted my time with E$PN gameday for years. I heard something about they added an extra hour to the broadcast... something called the "Reacharound" (appropriately enough).

A little harsh, but yea...fair enough. My personal assessment of those two trips pass plays was bull**** play calling... both times we lined up a corner, a linebacker and a young safety against three WRs. But again, this could have been a function of our not having the depth to run a nickel package, so your basic point holds true: we really could use at least one more safety for this game (though I'm still confused as to why our 3rd CB can't play as the nickel back).
