dude...awesome memory...I think he actually returned a punt for a TD or something...

You think thats an awesome memory.... I remember this one time at band camp....Sorry, just have movie quotes pop into my head all the time. Could be because I am at work and I am proctoring a state practice MCT II test and I am bored. Could be because I am a little bit goofy.

Joe acccomplished a lot at Notre Dame despite a lot of adversity. However, his Irish accomplishments pale in comparison to his NFL resume. Four Super Bowl wins, 8 Pro Bowls, 2 league MVP awards in a 14 year career.

From Wikipedia -
"Noted for his ability to remain calm under pressure, Montana helped his teams to 31 fourth quarter come-from-behind wins.[3] In the closing moments of the 1982 NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XXIII, Montana threw game-winning touchdown passes. The touchdown at the end of the championship game was so memorable that sports journalists, fans, and many others, refer to the play simply as "The Catch". The touchdown in the closing moments of Super Bowl XXIII came at the end of a 92-yard drive."

If I was a successful CEO of a major corporation and all anybody wanted to talk about was my killer lemonade stand growing up, I would think it was kind of pathetic. Yes that is meant to be an extreme example to drive home my point on what may be going on in Joe Montana's head.

Other than, "I'm Joe Montana, I'm very glad to meet you."

I don't know why people get so upset when the 5 seconds they encounter a celebrity doesn't go like they've dreamed. Joe Montana isn't walking around this earth looking for ND fans to high five, have a beer with and tell stories about the Cotton Bowl. Picture if you were famous and 50 people a day, every day, for 30 years were coming up to you to shake your hand, ask for an autograph, picture, ect. You might come off as an a-hole to a good percentage of those people some days.

I have no problem with what Joe says about Rudy. He probably gets asked about it all the time. I don't think he was being mean. Most fans know that Rudy wasn't historically accurate.

I have heard Bob Golic make a remark about the movie "enhancing" or flat out fabricating certain things.

QFT. I'm sure it's fun for the first 5 years or so, but that has eventually got to wear on them. Especially once they're done and have moved on from the game - instead of asking what they're passionate about nowadays, all people would want to do is reminisce about the past.

If you're over 20 yo; just shake the man's hand and say thanks if you need to validate his accomplishments. And if you really still want to reflect on glories past for hours, call up your father and talk about the games you went to or watched on television.

Please don't punch your son. I hear genitalia is hereditary, especially paternally.

Rudy is a myth. Joe Montana is a LEGEND. The movie is good but way over the top cheesy. Go watch some of Joe's come from behind dramatics if you want to truly be inspired. The man inspired for an entire career, not just half a sack. Although that is apparently half a sack more than your lineage can handle.

Not everyone can be like Stan Musial.
Couple of stories here guys first on Stan the Man. I was at a sports banquet in Pitts Pa called the Dapper Dan ( at one time it was a big deal nationally ) as an invited pro player from the local area but not a celebrity by any strecth of the imagination. Just glad to be there. I told Stan that I was one of the kids he signed an autograph for years ago thru the traveling secretary of the Pirates while on the road in St Louis playing the Cards. This man was a jewel and resigned for me another piece as it now meant more since I was a fellow major league player. He signed it 'welcome to the club'-classy and he didnt have a phoney bone in his body. Point is not everyone is 'good people'. But cut the guys some slack who have to put up with folks who sometimes dont consider what a mess they make of meeting guys. I was a guy just luckey to be in the 'Big Leagues' so I never was anything but glad to talk a little baseball but if I was Joe Montana I'm sure it would be different. Joe could have done better with his take but it is HIS take on the subject. Dont think less of Joe Montana for just telling the Rudy story as he saw it. The real story may not be what some want to hear. I doubt if Joe Montana is a bad guy -just a guy who doesnt think about what its like to meet Joe Montana from the fans perspective.

Meh! I don't really care either way. I was not shocked to hear that Hollywood takes liberties with stories like that. Does not ruin the movie for me one bit to know some of it was totally fabricated.

I have never met Montana, so I don't know about his personality, but I have met many celebrity jerks and I have also met some really, really cool people too.

One of the coolest athletes I have ever met is Magic Johnson. Awesome guy and always has time for fans. I have run in to him several times and he is just a good, genuine dude. Luc Robitaille is another great guy. But in my experience, hockey players seem to be more down to earth, in general, than other athletes. In my opinion and experience only, of course.

WHat I'm shocked to hear is that some people actually thought the side characters were real people and that the jerseys were laid on Devine's table???? REALLY!? I saw that movie for the first time when I was 12... I walked out of the damn theater THEN knowning that was a dramtic moment that never happened... I knew he would have dressed that game for senior day... which to this day I am fairly sure was the circumstance without ever researching it...

as far as the side characters... EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE on real events has side characters that are a mesh of many people that help connect the audience to the overall feel of many different people's help or hindering of the main characters...

I swear this was common knowledge but somehow pointing that out is a story??? It needs to be pointed out??? really???

C'mon ACamp! Are you out of your mind? Next thing you are going to tell me is that John McClain never actually said, "Yippee ki yay - mother f'er!" and Lou Brown didn't use a risque cut out of the Cleveland Indians former showgirl owner to motivate his team.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

Nice post. Nice story too.

I was also thinking it is the fault of the author who sensationalized the entire article toward the negative.

Now that was funny!

This is my son Brendan we are talking about. You started it. This kid was born on January 5, 2006 at 6:47PM. During the Superbowl, Pittsburg and Seattle. After the first series by Seattle ended with a field goal, Pittsburg started a drive highlighted by about five runs on the ground by the Bus. That is exactly when my son was born. I considered it a sign from God.

You asked for it!

So this spring, my four-and-a-half-year-old son asked to take some pictures, and so I obliged him by pointing the camera down at about our ten o’clock, to where Manti and Kyle Rudolph were warming up. He immediately pivoted to his one o’clock, and began furiously snapping pictures of the cheerleaders. Dad was in shock, son was going to die before he surrendered the camera. So with all of this Kyle McCarthy was sitting about seven rows in front of us waiting for draft results.

We had to go to the john, because Brendan insists on having to write his name in the lowboy next to the trough. We were in this position, Brendan taking all the time he could, me anxious to get back up into the stands when McCarthy walked in next to him, and looked down. Brendan just looked up, and nodded then said, “How’s it goin’?” Talk about double takes, Kyle did smile.
