Saw this on the Rivals board from a press release today:

Members of the University of Notre Dame football family who have died during the past year will be recognized as part of the pre-game flag presentation, including a moment of silence, prior to the start of Notre Dame’s 2010 season-opening football game Saturday against Purdue at Notre Dame Stadium.

The national colors will be presented Saturday by six individuals:
-- Current Notre Dame receiver coach Tony Alford and his mother Gloria Alford (their father and husband Robert Sr. died in June).
-- Current Notre Dame player Alex Bullard and his mother Dorothy Bullard (their father and husband Louis died in April).
-- Jerry and Peggy James, whose son Matt - an incoming freshman player for 2010 - lost his life last April.

It's nice to see Notre Dame united as a family, we all grieve for each others losses.

My prayers go out for the loss of these families.

Doubtful. NBC will probably show that little weasel guy in the New York studio with some updates about other games or the US Open. Or they will show previews about some new primetime crap fest they will be dragging out this fall.

Heaven forbid NBC shows something poignant and meaningful on their broadcast.

I can't wait to pray for all my loved ones at Notre Dame. What a spiritual occasion. I will be completely saturated with emotion once I get there, Michigan week. This is definitely a great move by ND.

normally im not a fan of the bias that FOX shows (even if it is towards my preference) but if the game were on Fox this would be televised

NBC needs to do a half hour pre-game show, show the band doing their thing and televise the entire lead up to the entrance to the field from the tunnel.

If they were smart they would bring in a couple savvy commentators and have them talk about the week's game while showing the pre-game festivities.

But they are not smart.

Good move by ND with this flag presentation. Classy move all the way.

Sometimes we are lucky if we even get a glimpse of the players hitting the sign in the locker room. Many games they show the field and the team is already gathering outside the tunnel. I swear they used to show the moment the sunshine hit those gold helmets. Now, it is ads and filler and Hammond yakking away then commercial breaks and maybe make it back in time for kickoff.

All media shows bias, and some lie or twist the truth to suit their agenda's like The NY Times. It takes an educated person to sift through the bs, and form their own opinion. I pity those easily led sheep who believe everything the press (both print, and broadcast) force feeds them. The press is a powerful tool that gets misused often, and they like to play the haughty, high and mighty role of "protectors of society" when oft times they should be pointing the fingers at themselves (like that would ever happen!) Anyway thats my rant of the day, back to football!

Class act by the Irish, but would we expect anything less?
