Michigan and Alabama close to scheduling neutral game in 2012

It probably is. But I have a dilemna rooting for either of those two team. I rather see a tornado take out the power to the Stadium while they were tied in OT. Refs would have to declare a tie due to the elements.

I usually root for ND's opponents as it build our strength of schedule. It does nothing for us beating a bunch of 0-12 teams. More importantly we battle Michigan for the All Time Winning Div 1 Team. In 2010 ND can retake the lead that Willingham gave away years ago. So I make an exception for Michigan they can go 0-12.

As for Bama if they beat Michigan they will immediately declare themselves the winners of two more NCs. It's just how they do things.

I have a friend who is a Bama booster. He played basketball for The Tide. He paid about a grand for a Danny Moore print of "The Sack" where Cornelius Bennett nearly dismembered Steve Beuerlein in '86. He has a hugh protrait of Bear Bryant over his fireplace. But whenever I'm over at his place The Bear comes down and Bennett and The Sack goes up in his place to goad me. He let me know he spent the Grand on "The Sack" just to rile me. "What do you think about that?", he asked. I replied politely, "I though you took down Bear Bryant because you were embarassed because he never beat ND." I then added, "You do know ND was only favored once in all those 6 games. Five times you guys managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The one time you did win you chased the coach out of town." I was never asked back for dinner again.

A couple of years ago when Bama AD Mal Moore asked ND to be let out of a contract for a home and home series because of a loss of scholarships. I had the newspaper headline, "Bama asks to back out of ND series" blown up to banner size the length of his fireplace and sent it to him. I guess his thank you card got lost in the mail.

Thats awesome

Michigan would get blown out, obviously, but it's good to see two teams meeting up of this caliber.

People have been saying the exact same thing about ND-OK and ND-TX. Most think we'll get blown out. We all disagree. We'll see how Mich is in 2012, and we'll see if Nick Satan has eyes on the NFL or another school or temporary retirement or whatever.

indeed, i wanted him, honestly if he came i would be happy, im not ashamed to say it, i wanted to see him win championships, he could recruit anyone, just like Holtz could, ND wouldnt let him recruit who he wanted, so he left. Now that i think they would probably have done the same thing to urban after a few years, urban would have brought wins, which everyone wanted, but i admit he would have brought trouble, thats why if BK can win at ND without the kind of trouble other schools have gotten in, ill be the first to shake his hand and congratulate him.

I too, wanted Urban...5 years ago. But he said NO to his supposed 'dream job', b/c he knew he'd win sooner and easier at FL. So screw him. (He also said NO to his 'dream job' again -to the media at least - last year, so double screw him.)

I personally did NOT want him this past time, for the above reasons and to the reasons KPenn alluded to earlier. He's a great coach, no doubt, but he's a complete scumbag, and I don't think he'd have near the success at ND that he's had at FL b/c the lying and the backhanded ways he does things wouldn't fly at ND. And he definitely wouldn't be getting the Harveys and the Dunbars and the Spikes admitted to ND.

My number one at first was Stoops. Then I talked to a friend who really knows his college fb, and I did a little research, and OK hasn't been the same since he lost his top assistants. Don't get me wrong, he's still a great coach and I would have loved to have him. But once I read up on Kelly more, he was my #1 by a mile (I never believed Stoops was coming) and would have been sorely disappointed had we not gotten him. Thankfully we did.

I thankfully that scumbag is still at FL...

Some of Michigan's OOC games are weak, but it's really no different than any other Big Ten team, or other BCS teams for that matter.

You have to give them credit for playing us and Ohio State every year, something no other Big Ten team has to do.

If you crunch the SoS numbers, they've had the strongest schedule over the past 10-15 years in the Big Ten, and it's not really close.

Have we finalized the extension with UM yet? I know a lot of people don't think it would happen, but if the B10 goes to 9 games, I could see UM bitching out of any long-term deal because they have to deal with the addition of Nebraska or any other new B10 members.

And hiring Les Miles would be the biggest mistake ever. I'd even make the argument that he's a downgrade from Rich Rod.

Yes I know RR has been terrible so far, but if he's given another year or two (which I don't think he will) he'd eventually get UM back in the top of the B10.

Miles would be a perpetual 7 win coach who'd never be great. He took over a top 10 program with top 3 talent, won a lame national title, and has disappointed every year since.

Plus he has a really hard time forming coherent sentences when he talks, they don't really noticed it as much down in the Bayou, but I can't see Michigan hiring such an underachieving dolt.

As a recent Bama grad and now current ND graduate student, I enjoy the "class" and bitterness displayed by a moderator of all people on this site. So is this part of the ND family that was one of the factors that made me decide to Notre Dame or did I not get the memo during the application process?

Michigan and Bama have NEVER faced each other in a regular season game. It violates both their philosophies of scheduling easy wins.

That must be why we scheduled ND for eleventy years...

There are three moderators that have posted in this thread. Could you be a tad less cryptic. Feel free to cite the "class" and bitterness that you find enjoyable.

BINGO

And MacadamianNut claims to be a GA native, grad from Alabemmer, ND grad student, and bases her choices on a lost memo from a random website. MacadamianNutless is the ultimate internet badass.

well played, but why don't we hold judgement on the schedule until the end of the year. Who knows, Bowling Green State could be this years Boise....lol

It's basically a fill-in-the-blank if you wanted to do that for Notre Dame.

The Ref takes a point away... but your Coach is Rich Rodriguez ..so game, set, match Notre Dame... he is either going to lose and get fired, or win and you guys get probation...

Ignoring the response to your first drive by shooting while responding with a second drive by is the hallmark of a troll. I don't care where you went to undergraduate school or claim to be going to grad school.

You come here and speak of bitterness. I don't know if that's incredible irony or incredible ignorance of your professed alma mater. Alabama is the only school that had a book written to commemorate bitterness, "The Missing Ring" which villified Parshegian and UND.

Alabama fans gripping about Notre Dame "bitterness" is like a Cubs fan talking shit to a Yankee fan about their lack of titles over the past ten years...

seriously, I'm in Cali... I know SC fans, UCLA fans, I have Texas and OU grads in my family... we disagree on tons of topics... BUT we ALL agree on one thing cfb... and that is no fan base in the country is more bitter, rage filled and has flat out lost all perspective more than those fans from Bama that, much like maggots, still live off dead bear...

Years ago I was doing what I do, working with a lawyer from Colorado. At some point he mentioned that he'd gone to law school at Alabama. Though I'm supposed to avoid idle chatter, I couldn't resist muttering "ND 4, Bear Bryant 0" as we were "taking care of business" at adjoining urinals. His response? "Oh shit, not another one!" It turned out that he'd spent a number of years with a law firm in Chicago that housed a bunch of Domers.

We got along just fine and went out for a few drinks, dinner and conversation at the end of the day.

At least Syracuse is a school in a BCS Conference. Appalachian State isn't even in the FBS. Also, at least we weren't ranked #5.

Not to mention Toledo.

That may be, but Syracuse SUCKED royal ass that year, and App St I believe would have wiped the floor with them. And we lost to Navy 2 damn times (although Navy was damn good this year and almost beat the Rose Bowl champs).

Either way you slice it, we're both bagging on each other for some sorry ass losses, and neither team comes at smelling like roses in the end, no matter how you spin it...
