The energy on this team is so much different than the past few years. Looks like they are going to be pumped to play this year. Last year it looked like they were just going through the motions!

On the "surface" I do like what I read about Stewart's pull ups (chin ups - which one is it Dishands?).

I'm not to be trusted, consulted or even believed when it comes to physical fitness and training. Better you should consult Mbecka. Howsomever, irregardless and ipso-facto-cogito-ergo-sum ... as I know them, a chin-up is done with your palms facing you as you grasp the bar. Pull-ups are done with the back of your hands facing you. The latter are more difficult in my experience. All things "poh-tay-toe, pah-tah-toe" aside; there are some different muscles involved.

Mileage May Vary. Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear. Don't Attempt This At Home. Demonstration Done On Closed Track With Professional Drivers.

When did this turn into a weight-lifting discussion?

When you said so. And when mgriff wanted to talk about facemasks.

Notice this trainer's call for safety as well:

YouTube - ‪Instructional Fitness - Donkey Calf Raises‬‎

I'm not quite in favor of the latest trend to "positive" and "negative" slowly. I like the fast tweak action depending on the goal and the sport, but is there any sport that doesn't require some fast twitch?. If you lift weights simply to look pretty, then by all means lift slowly and spend all your money on supplements and get fat and broke. And still not get the women.

Haha I was just commenting on something I noticed in the video. He had the new fango Revolution helmets with the RB/DB bars on the sides which connected and ran in one line right through the bottom. I just always noticed that about Manti's facemask, and I never liked it. He now switched to the 3 Bar, which provides some better vision in some people's estimation. I figured someone would run with it, alas, we went in the weight training direction.

Like Coach Kelly is always saying, attention to detail! Maybe I can get a job on the staff for picking that up.

Beats a Weis practice.

Put one of his versus a Kelly practice side-by-side and you'd think the Weis practice was going in slow motion.

Faster & more efficient practices... gotta love it. Anyone know how long Weis' practices were? I seem to recall around 3 to 4 hours.

Lord love a duck! Stop me, stop me ... PLEASE!!! Ah, screw it!

The notion of a "Good Mornings" workout evokes a mental image that has nothing to do with weights. Calves, thighs and chestal areas, yes; but no weights and over supplemented trainers. There's plenty of "slow negative to positive movement" to enhance the "basics and fundamentals." And a whole lotta fast twitching if done properly.

Maybe if I'd taken up this regimen years ago I'd still be married ...

Wow, it seems like Kelly's practices are in fast forward.

But the most impressive thing about the practices that I notice is the fact that Kelly is WAY more efficient with his amount of time than Weis.

Players are no longer standing around waiting for their turn.

This team will be able to play 4 quarters and that alone will make them improved from last year.

Kelly seems to be doing great things!

Practice times are the same for all schools unless you are Michigan

Ahhh... thank you. I knew practice time (except for MeatChicken who is *special*) was limited by the NCAA, but thought it was total practice time not a certain set time per day.

During the season they get 20 hours per week. But the daily time is specified as well. In Spring Ball and Preseason camp the NCAA has explicit rules concerning the amount of time, what they wear, what they can do, contact, etc. Adding pads on Wednesday is in compliance with the NCAA schedule of progressively increasing the workouts.

No more Bear Bryant "Junction Boys" training camps.
