The lack of intelligent teammates will cause his brain to decay...

But seriously if he wants academics, come to ND... Or at least a school like Stanford.

Just not FSU or LSU.

I like I said the article was written by a Gator site with a Gator slant. So take it with a grain of salt. If this is true it means that talking about academics is BBB SOS..

I wouldn't take articles like that too seriously becuase they omit info. Unless he says i cut my school to 5 and they are... then its whatever. I know when Lyons talks to Irishillustarted he brings up Stanford and Northwestern so lets not go nuts yet

I really hope we get this kid, he's my favorite recruit (mostly because we are lacking in Cali Offers)

Not to put any knock on this kid, but how can you have a 4.9 GPA and get a 22 on the ACT?! I had a 3.25 and got a 24 on the ACT.

A 4.9 at his school might be the equivalent of a 3.2 at your school. It's one of the variables ND Admissions factors in when evaluating students for admission.

And a 2.4 at one school might be a 1.8 at others.

Some people don't test well.

Or the kid may have missed a question and marked ahead on his scantron...

Well no, ACT and SAT have sections. Maybe he was hung over. Maybe he doesn't retain knowledge well but has tremendous work ethic.

Saw that...here is his list:

Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole’ Miss, South Carolina, Stanford, Vanderbilt, UCLA and South Florida.

2 great things: ND is there, $outhern Cal is not.

He's looking to cut his list more by the fall.

We are going to have to sit back on this one, it is certainly going to be hard to pull him out of Florida. Especially with him really liking Florida and FSU. But with what Alford just did with Lynch, I have all the confidence in the world.

Lots of kids aren't great test takers. Some of my brightest, most intelligent students just don't do well on tests.

Hell, the first SAT I took (on the old scale), I got a 1220. I had studied my balls off. About three months later, my mom wakes me up at 6:00 AM and tell me I'm taking the SAT. Cold. I didn't freak out. I went to the SAT site, walked in, took the test and got a 1470.

Thus... I am not a test fan. I try to minimize them as much as possible in my classes.

1470 (on the old scale) AND a football player. I am truly in awe.

2011 S Wayne Lyons
ESPN on the trail insider College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2011 - ESPN

"The 5-11, 190-pound Dillard (Fla.) High product has made unofficials to several schools including Florida State twice. He's also been to Notre Dame (he was impressed with their answers to his "quiz")."

He also visited Maryland and Ohio State, but they didn't make the list. We should be in this until the end.

On page 2 of this thread, NDinL.A. has linked a story where it states Lyons plans on announcing at the U.S. Army All-American game, or shortly thereafter on NSD. I don't believe his plans have changed much; he just whittled his list down to 15 schools, and he is going to take his time and take all his officials. He's a smart kid and wants to make sure he ends up in the right program for him.

With Rabasa, Lynch, and Burton from South Florida...this weekend should help. The biggest recruiter now however will be wins/losses...

Wayne is still high on the Irish program and has them among the list of schools he is strongly considering.

Lyons wanted to come up to South Bend for the Michigan game but his schedule will not allow it; but he still plans on making the trip happen. “I was trying to make it to the Michigan game but our schedule will make it tough,” said Lyons. “So I’m still trying to figure out which game to come to.”

Being a part of restoring the glory days of Notre Dame football is big for Lyons. “That would be a great feeling on my part to be able to say that I helped bring back the strong winning at Notre Dame,” said Lyons.

Playing time will be an important factor for Lyons, who is aware of Notre Dame’s lack of depth at the safety position. “I am a competitor, so it is hard for me to sit and watch football,” said Lyons. “I want to always compete for a spot.”

From ESPN:

Four-star defender Wayne Lyons (Oakland Park, Fla./Dillard) updated ESPN affiliate Web site GatorCountry.com on the latest surrounding his recruitment.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect is favoring the in-state schools; Florida, Florida State and Miami-FL. He feels comfortable in Gainesville, likes that Coral Gables is close to home and is intrigued that the Seminoles have started a new era.

Additionally, Lyons, who does not want to use official visits for the in-state schools, has a date set with UCLA.

Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, Nebraska, South Carolina and Stanford are among the other programs still chasing Lyons.

He's expected to wait until January to make his decision.

I believe I said this earlier in his thread, but Mike Frank pointed out months ago on his podcast that the only time Lyons mentions ND is when he is talking to an ND site. He's always high on ND when he is talking to our recruiting guys, but that's it. It's always been the FL schools, esp FL. The only surprise is that he mentions UCLA by name.

As for this article, it's the WRITER who mentions the other schools, not Wayne. Wayne mentions 4 schools and that's it. And don't forget, he was talking to a FL site.

I still think he'll end up a Gator, which is what almost everyone thinks actually. I hope he goes to UCLA if he doesn't choose ND...

They often pick out a few schools from the ones the recruit states, and if GatorCountry.com did this article, then you can bet they would have left ND out. I still don't think we'll get him, but they do pick only a few schools.

At least chances increase when they step on campus. Still will be a hard get, but there is definitely a chance if he follows through with the visit.

I think it's simple: If we win 10-11 games this year we have a good shot at him because he could see immediate playing time. If not, we have a snowball's chance in Hell.
