Notre Dame would like to improve its success in Texas and the recruitment of Jalen Brown represents a strong starting point. The cornerback from MacArthur High School (Irving, Texas) has an Irish offer in hand and is looking to schedule a visit to South Bend.

Kerry Cooks grew up in the same town as Jalen Brown and attended the rival HS. Lots on common ground.

according to isd he is going to contact kerry cooks about setting up a offical visit to nd. he said he plans to visit texas tech, texas a@m and nebraska as well. said he plans to take all 5 visit before deciding here he will go. he stays in regular contact with cooks.

Meanwhile Rivals reports rumors of a possible commitment to Texas Tech where he camped this summer. Brown had previously been reported to be taking OVs before making a decision. Rivals says it may be soon.

According to rocket31, who said this on another site, Jalen committed to the Irish today. It says so on his facebook per rocket31 (I don't have a facebook acct, so I can't verify).

If this is true, this would be an absolutely insane day for Irish recruiting.

EDIT: Just saw the facebook copy...it looks to be real! All his boys are congratulating him, and he's saying it's true. Brinzda already chimed in.

This is an unreal day with perhaps our biggest catch coming tomorrow. I cannot think of a comparison to any other time in recruiting. CAN YOU SAY DEFENSE?!?! DL and DB are huge areas of need and we currently have 3 kids for each. Add that to Brian Kelly saying on NSD we are not good enough on the outside defensively assuring it will be an area of focus for the future....Rabasa, Burton, Councell say hi.
