what does TB know about football talent? was bradshaw ever considered to a talented skillful QB? he won games sure, but not because if his talent. Check bradshaws career QB records, pathetic (maybe the lowest of all HOF qb's). Check his receivers career stats, pathetic. Lynn Swann is in the HOF for making highlight catches in the super bowl, not because of his mediocre career stats. Swann is debated to this day by alot of ppl of not even deserving to be in the HOF. Bradshaw is in for winning 4 super bowls with arguably the greatest defense ever assembled. As we have seen on the past, even trent dilfer can win the super bowl when you have a defense that good.

This just goes to show how many people are obssessed with:

A. Cannon Arm Strength
B. Winning in college

Not many people questioned B with Cutler, because he had A.

And many seem to think B with Tebow overrides his lack of A (and other poor throwing mechanics, smarts, etc.)

I actually agree with Bradshaw about Clausen's throwing motion. But it's not that big of a deal.

What is a big deal is Clausen's accuracy and smarts. It still amazes me at how few poor balls Clausen threw last year. All of his four picks weren't really his fault, and he had about four other balls that could/should have been picked off.

It's just ridiculous. He almost had a 70% completion season with a shaky offensive line, poor running game, and throwing the ball away quite often. All in a pro-style offense!

At some point, Clausen will start picking apart NFL defenses. You can tell Bradshaw never really watched Clausen that much by this interview because he asks a question about Clausen's inability to win big games that he's not really completely sure of.

So he's watched "some" tape on Clausen and doesn't like his throwing motion and he wants to like him better but doesn't.

Thanks Terry.

Wow! All (of this criticism) because Bradshaw doesn't like Clawson? Let see, I think Bradshaw's point is what did Clawson win? What games did he win? On that scale, then, because of mediocre stats, Bradshaw meets his own criterion. If he is (was) as bad of quarterback, and his receivers were as bad as he was criticized here, then he met his own standards and then some. And having listened to the interview, Bradshaw is the first one to analyze Jimmy on his playing abilities, not for his “leadership abilities” or “maturity.” Watch Clawson after you have a chance to see Crist, Montana, Hendrix, Massa, or etc., develop. Tell me he isn’t too slow. And tell me his throwing motion isn’t just what Terry Bradshaw said. Guys, there is a reason Clawson went 16-21 and it wasn’t all defense and Weiss.

Besides, if anyone read the article they would have seen who Bradshaw thought was the greatest quarterback of all times. No one commented on that!

I agree with Bradshaw.

"I didn't like him in college and I don't like him now," Bradshaw said without hesitation. "I hear great things about him, but he's not my kind of guy."

Yea, bradshaw was talking about his winning percentage....

I respect Bradshaw a lot as I grew up near Pittsburgh, 'I think he is dead wrong' but this does throw me a curve ball because I know this- Bradshaw knows what he's talking about. I want Terry to be wrong and have said in the past Clausen's legacy will be in pro football. I expect him to excell.

Do people really care what TB has to say? I mean, I know he's a legend in Steeltown, but the guy's a friggin' cartoon who's only reason for be in Fox's pre-game is so they have someone to make cheap jokes about.

Last I checked, football is a team game...maybe more so than any of the other big sports. A QB rarely wins the game all by himself whereas as has already been pointed out, a great defense can easily overcome a mediocre QB (hello, Mr. Dilfer).

I agree with Bradshaw.

What has Clausen won? He single handedly drove the Irish back for what 3 or 4 last second drives last year? When you are throwing up 30+ points a game and your record is 6-6 there is more to point at than the starting QB. I didn't read the article because I have always thought Bradshaw was a moron. And for the most part, yes it was the defense and it was Weis. I'd blame them before I tossed Clausen under the bus.

Bradshaw's first comment about not liking Clausen seems personal in nature.

This comment: "I don't like his motion... "I think he's too slow....... I just thought he was way too slow with his delivery, way too much shoulder action. Physically, in the way he threw a football, I just didn't like him."

... is a completely ridiculous comment. I could see if his throwing motion prevented him from completing passes, but the fact is it is his throwing motion that led to his outrageous accuracy and completion percentage. With his outstanding ability to get the ball from point A to point B, and have his offense score as much as they did, then he could have thrown underarm or side arm for all that mattered. As a matter of fact, any coach who tries to alter his motion might be making a mistake.

One thng that comes to mind when thinking about Bradshaw's comment is not about JC's college days, which is what TB was referring to, but the fact that he will be facing a much faster game in the pros. JC will adjust.

Other old timers like myself may remember Bradshaw also called out Elway for being a "punk" and "not the type of guy who can win in this league" when Elway was a rookie......

just a friendly reminder.

I can care less of Bradshaw's opinion. Clausen was used as a tackling dummy for 3 years. Oh yeah, he never had a running game.

But the real question is:

Who is Clawson?

?

JC had the entire offensive success riding on his slow shoulders.

Clawson is half of a karate training command, combined with Clawsoff.

Clawson, Clawsoff, Clawson, Clawsoff.

I think any NFL Coach who tries to change Clausen's throwing motion is making a big mistake. His throwing motion did look strange, but it sure wasn't hurting him at all when he made those 4th quarter comebacks in nearly every game.

Clausen also had no running game, no defense, a turf toe, and one of the best recievers in college football injured for most of the year. The whole entire offense relied on him.

Bradshaw and Rapistberger have one thing in common... they're both complete idiots who win on Sundays.

I certainly wish Jimmy and Golden were both coming back.

I do look very much forward to this year with the new blood though. They have to gain experience somewhere.

Bradshaw is washed up, old, and I'm surprised his Hulk Hogan little brother retarded looking ass can even move his neck fast enough to track Jimmy's throwing motion.

First, let me apologize for misspelling Jimmy's name. Hell, I have even misspelled Alan Page's name once. Something I am good at. But the bottom line is this, when the presentation becomes more important than the content, then we all have a problem! You know what you have then, don't you? ESPN

As far as getting back to Clausen, (see doesn't that feel better already? Clausen, Clausen) I didn't buy into the hype before he came, he threw to what will undoubtedly be considered one of the best set of receivers that any college quarterback has ever had, (Tate, Floyd, Ragone, Rudolph, scores of others including RB's out of the backfield, etc.), and I believe Dayne Crist was rated just as highly, against better competition, with better measurables.

I have nothing against Clausen, or his evil-twin Clawson for that matter, and obviously, Terry Bradshaw realized he was being paid for an endorsement in ND territory, and put his foot in it, then tried to pull it out. It is part of the charm of a man like Bradshaw.

In the next year or so, we will have all our answers. I don't think Clausen will adjust to the speed of the game at the pro level. Call me crazy, a whole lot of the problems he had his first year, and into his second was not adjusting to the speed at the college level, and frankly, he has two brothers before him, that didn't adjust either. I love my three sons, and I think it is funny that they are all significantly faster than their dad, but still the NFL isn't waiting for any of them. Me, they timed my forty with a sundial. Frankly, genetics is a factor. It is not slow shoulders, the problem is his feet.

And finally, Jack Swarbrick indicated that his biggest disappointment was the attack by some fans against some student athletes. Fine dog me about my mistake. But let’s talk about the issues. How many times in this string was Tarry Bradshau called stupid, ripped in the most unflattering terms? (Just kidding about the misspelling of Terry Bradshaw.) And does anyone remember what Jimmy Clausen's Wonderelic results were? And whether they may have affected his draft status? I asked earlier, does anyone know who Terry Bradshaw says is the greatest QB of all time?

it seems like people don'y rad the links sometimes.

Anyway Bradshaw says he doesn't like Jimmy's motion and uses topo much arm

Reminder: Jimmy had 2 torn ligaments in his foot so he had to use all arm. That is not his natural motion. Thats the same thing that McShay was harping about. Do some research
