Definetly more of a Pass Happy spread. He also uses the no huddle with it.

You guys return your 2 key skill position players in Michael Floyd and Armando Allen which benefits good. I just can't see Notre Dame winning 7-8 games this season Here are my predictions

Purdue- This game could either way because sometimes Purdue has their games where they play pretty solid against Ohio State and Michigan. But they also have their games where their team doesn't show up at all like when they got pounded vs Wisky 37-0. It really depends how they play but I'd say a loss.

Michigan- You guys have a good defense and return good players that are upperclassmen but they didn't handle the #1 offense in the Big Ten too well. Michigan's defense is really scaring me this season but I think it should contain the transitioning ND offense. It'll be close but I think Mich pulls away late in the game- L

At Mich St- As much as I would love to see ND smash MSU just to shut little brother up, in truth they return a good secondary. Their offense isn't anything special though so I think this could be a toss up. I would lean more towards MSU because it's at home for them but ND beats them on the road. I'm going to say a close loss.

Stanford- Stanford returns their QB from last season but they're gonna be back to the usual Stanford this season without Toby Gerhart. Good win for ND, Kelly to put them at 1-3.

At BC- BC's defense is hurting this season losing key 5th year seniors but they still have Mark Herzlich who is now cancer free. This one is a toss up a game but because it is in BC so I would say a close close loss. 1-4

Pitt- Pitt I think this season will be overrated and ND will win this one good. It will show people that Mark May's beloved Panthers are exposed. ND should win this "upset" by 2 scores. 2-4

Western Mich- I remember last season numerous writers in the local papers in Detroit were picking WMU to beat Michigan good. Yeah right, 31-7. Their best player in QB Hiller is gone so no worries at all for ND. Blowout win. 3-4

Navy (in E.Ruth)- Navy returns an All-Senior secondary and still rocks the triple-option with QB Ricky Dobbs who nearly stunned OSU on opening weekend last season. I think ND loses this one very close, but this will be the last year you lose to the service academies. 3-5

Tulsa- The Golden Hurricane got bitch-slapped by a hurting 7-5 OU team last season. Tulsa returns a somewhat decent receiving core. But I don't see ND losing. Blowout win. 4-5

Utah- This Utah team is still dangerous even though losing key players that smoked Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. DO NOT take them lightly. I say this is a toss up that goes into overtime. It'll be a low scoring game but I say Utah wins. 4-6

Army (Yankee Stadium)- Not much to say here. Good solid win for ND. This will make the USC game a do or die affair being one win from bowl eligibility. 5-6

At USC- USC will be fired up for this game even though..it means absolutely nothing to their rankings and bowl projection but simply a pride game. This game will be a close one like last years. The winner of this game will be simply who wants it more. I think USC will pull away later in this close game and win it. 5-7

That is one delusional Michigan fan. I can't wait for our men to smash DicRod and his boys straight into the ground. I look forward to it.

Don't think we will lose to Purdue.
We'll beat MSU, UM or both.
Stanford a toss up.
By the 5th game offense rolling, beat BC.
Utah possible loss.
USC possible loss, but Kiffin could very well find a way to lose it.

Honestly.....
10-2 best case.
7-5 worst case.

If we only win 5, I'll be obsolutely devastated. We have talent and college coaching.

p.s. I don't think i'm being a homer here...The homer in me says undefeated!!! I can dream, can't I?

I know your a Mich fan, but Stanford is a much better team to mich. Purdue 37-0 really? remember everybody talks about ND's QB question's, Purdue has Robert Marve, coming off a sit out year and a knee ACL tear, played like 9 games a Miami before leaving. Navy? no only CW could coach ND to a loss to Navy and he's gone. Utah is tough but rebuilding I say Kelly gets it going win. BC still has a 26 baseball playing QB win. I say at least 8 wins. Purdue, Mich, BC W. Mich, Tulsa, Navy, Army, Pitt and Utah.

HORSE SHIT!
I think the guys are really buying into the new coaching staff, the new offense/defense, and they'll be in much better condition and stronger. Plus I think they'll be just plain excited to get on the field, we'll have some growing pains sure but I think we're more in the 7-9 wins.

Nine wins is my prediction. Maybe eight. We'll win one we're not supposed to...

There is no way we go 0-3 against a group of teams that combined for a 16-21 record last year.

Now I thought I smoked the good shit. Come on man, are you freeking kidding me? Even I didnt predict this bad of a season. I still say 8-4 MAYBE 9-3 if things go good, or 7-5 at worst case scenario.

It's funny because my predictions are about 100% opposite. Purdue, Michigan and MSU... we should win all three if not at least 2 of those. Those teams all not very good. Stanford, BC and Pitt I think we can get two of but probably drop one in here. Stanford and Pitt will both be front runners in their conferences. So at this point worst case scenario we are 3-3. Western Mich, Navy, Tulsa. We win all three of these games. The Navy loss last year was one of the most unlucky college football games I have EVER witnessed. There was total domination by the Irish with inability to capitalize + big play mistakes on defense. ND beats Navy by at least 2 scores this year... you can take that to the bank. So now we're 6-3 worst case scenario... Utah, Army, USC... we can either win all three of these or go 1-2. So overall worst case scenario we should go 7-5 or best case somewhere around 10-2. Utah, USC, Pitt, Stanford all have quite a bit of talent and will be tough outs... but the rest of our schedule we should dominate. Purdue is a joke, Michigan has yet to prove they can perform consistently, MSU will always be a middling team, BC should be down this year, Western Mich is a joke, Navy will get stomped for reasons you can't quantify, Tulsa is a joke, Army is a joke. So I guess if we lost to both Michigan and MSU and lost all 4 games against good competition we COULD be 6-6.

But predicting 5-7 is basically predicting Dayne Crist, Michael Floyd and our entire OL getting injured. If we stay healthy there is NO WAY we aren't above .500 with BK at the helm.

I agree with you "8-4 MAYBE 9-3" seems very realistic. Some people are acting like we were 1-11 last year and have no talent. We are loaded with talent, and we now have a coach that we (and most experts) believe will develop that talent.

whoa..no way we come out of the gate 1-4. I just cannot see use losing to Purdue, Mich, and Mich St...and then beat Stanford. Out of all the games next year we are probably most likely to loose to Stanford then U$C (earlier in the year and I believe we will get stronger during the season).

When NDOM has a sunnier outlook than you on ND football, you know you are being overly pessimistic...

I would predict the opposite result in every game except Tulsa and WMU. I'll be half surprised if Rich Rod still has his job by the time we play them.

There is 0 Chance we lose to Purdue, Michigan AND MSU. No Chance, not when 2 are at home as well. We win atleast 2 of the 3. Also no chance we go 5-7, we will beat Navy, BC and Utah. Take it to the bank

Let's see what a 5-7 in 2010 means....

It basically means that Brian Kelly will have his worst coaching season of his entire career.

Kelly has ONE season in his entire career when his team was under .500 and that was his first season at CMU when they went 4-7.

Going 5-7 at Notre Dame is considered a far worse lack of an accomplishment in comparison.

Also, with improved conditioning and strength programs, a much needed training table, focus on a specific system, and what is preceived to be a much better coaching staff....we're supposed to expect an even worse season that last?

Hardly likely.

Kelly has a proven track record of making teams better and making them better in a hurry. Even his first season at CMU was an improvement from the previous year.

With the talent Kelly has to work with, there is absolutely no way this team falls under .500 for the season.

7-5 could maybe happen, but even that would be considered an underachievement.

There's also no way we lose to Purdue in the first game of the season. The crowd will be so jacked up and the atmosphere so electric, I'd almost put this as a lock to be a 2-3 TD victory.

Also don't think we'll lose to Michigan or that game will be particularly close. Last year we piled up 490 yards (could have been close to 600 yards if those two big plays weren't called back) and there's not a lot of hope that UM's defense is going to be better.

We had literally everything go wrong that could possibly go wrong in last year's game....I don't think that's happening again.

Michigan isn't going to need its offense to be good...it will need it to be damn near prolific. Will it be? I think they'll be good, pretty solid quarterbacks, a couple nice receivers....but then what? No proven running backs in a run-heavy offense, doesn't lend itself to being prolific as far as I can see.

Notre Dame should have its way with Michigan this year, especially if they don't give up a kickoff for a touchdown, fumble in their own territory, have 9 penalties (some very suspect), have a huge Rudolph gain called back, Allen's TD catch called OOB, and have the defense play pretty close to awful.

I know your MICH fan and it takes some nerve to come here and make some predictions, without being too negative, and seems like they are you honest views not just trolling.

but with that said there all pretty crazy predictions, if anything the 1st game against purdue, ND will make them an example and win by at least two TD's maybe even more.

I just don't see any game on the schedule that is going to be that tough, but then again it is a transition year so theres bound to be a slip up here and there.

my guess is 9-10 wins, plus a bowl win

To play devil's advocate for a second (even though I already said I think his predictions are terrible) who saw us going 3-9 in 2007? I can at least conceive of a scenario where UM is better than we anticipate, MSU always plays us tough, so does BC, Stanford, Pitt, Utah and USC are all talented. That would be 7 losses if everything that can go wrong goes wrong.

to each their own... there are literally four games on the schedule (Western Michigan, Tulsa, Army and any one of Michigan, Purdue, Navy and Stanford, yes we will win at least one of those before the game even begins.) that are no brainer wins...

and this guy thinks we'll win ONE MORE....

wow.

I thought I had a bad feeling about this season... 6 or 7 wins should be a given... and I think that's probably all we'll get... but 5 wins??... so you are saying a team with Mike Floyd, Kyle Rudolph, a vetern o line and one of the most talented defensive fronts Notre Dame has had in 15 years is better than Eastern Michigan... and that's all.

really???

Really? Armando Allen and Michael Floyd were our two key skill position players, last year? Not Clausen and Tate, but Allen and Floyd?

I'm not even sure what to say about that! I'm sure you meant it that both projected stars for this year are returning starters, with a lot of experience. But, we are still starting an almost entirely unproven QB.

Allen (21 carries, 139 yards, 1 TD, 24 receiving yards) and Floyd (7 catches, 131 yards, TD) were the ones who did the most damage to Michigan last year. Odds are he didn't watch a lot of Irish games after that. There's one explanation.

Oh God.. Here we go again. I guess we'll have to see how it goes, but I can't say anything greater than 8 wins.

And whoever said you couldn't see ND going 3-9 in 2007? Are you nuts? Freshman QB, young OLine, a defense that was under conditioned to begin with, then throw in the offensive woes to add to it.. Forget it..

I hear ya, but...........

you didn't have to watch a single ND game, last year, to know that Clausen and Tate were two of the best players in the country at their positions.

Phork... seriously? We weren't ranked but we received votes in the AP before that season. Our new players on offense were a "once in a generation" talent at QB, 5 star RB, a young OL that was VERY highly touted... people thought .500 at worst.

You're seriously going to sit here and tell me you saw us going 3-9 with a loss to Navy for the first time in over 50 years? Sorry I don't buy that for a second.
