miami with wade and bosh. unstoppable
That's the one they were talking about this morning, and as a Laker fan, that does scare the shit out of me. However, as ND1 said, there is only one ball, and those are 2 MEGA-SUPERSTARS, and they'd have to completely drop their ego off at the door for them to be able to work together. This isn't like the Celtics, where you had 3 veterans at the end of their careers badly in need of a ring. This is 2 guys in their primes, especially LeBron, and do you think LeBron will be willing to go into another superstar's city, perhaps be the 2nd most loved athlete, AND have to share the ball in the 4th quarter? He doesn't just want to win, he wants to win and be the man, as does Wade (as does Kobe).
Who takes the shot in the 4th quarter to win the game? And how long to do you think they'll be happy with that? In Boston, you had Kevin Garnett who never liked to have the ball in the 4th, and you had Ray Allen who couldn't really create his own shot under intense pressure, so it fell to Pierce, who was money. It worked for them. But I just don't see LeBron and Wade working together, just because of the ego thing.
Speaking of LeBron, I've been wanting to say this forever, so allow me to speak a bit on him. (Full disclosure, I'm a HUGE Kobe/Laker fan.) First of all, when you can put up 25 points and 19 rebounds in a playoff game and STILL get ripped, you're a stud. But he needs to get serious about this basketball thing in a Kobe way. He's a global icon, a dancer, a clown, the best bball player alive during the regular season, but that shit don't work in the playoffs. I said it all year long...all that dancing crap and frontrunning and clowning teams when you're up by 20 doesn't translate into postseason success.
True story: At the Olympics, Kobe got a phone call in front of LeBron, and the person asked if Kobe wanted to go out. Kobe said no, because he had a 4:30 a.m. workout. This was DURING THE SUMMER. LeBron was shocked, and he said it let him know how hard Kobe worked and how hard he needed to work. And I do think LeBron works extremely hard, but he also has other visions, and I don't see him being on the level of Jordan and Kobe, as far as winning, until he gets that singular focus.
Anyway, if I'm Lebron, I go to Chicago. They have a team ready to win. The Knicks don't even have any roster pieces in play yet, Miami has only 2-3 guys on contract plus you have the whole Wade-LeBron thing. The next place I go to after Chi is Cleveland. That team won 60 games the past 2 seasons...I can't stand it when people say they don't have any talent outside of LeBron. They were good enough to be the BEST team in the league last year...don't tell me they don't have any talent. They just need some tweaking to the roster, and they need to somehow get the stones to play like MEN in the playoffs (maybe quit dancing so much during the regular season???).
Regardless, it's the summer of LeBron...and the rest of the NBA will be dominoes after he chooses...
