Will the curse of Hossa continue? I hope not. GO HAWKS!!!

I think the "Hossa Curse" is oversold. Here's why:

1) 2 teams out of 32 make the Cup Finals every year. Getting there 3 years in a row is a hell of an acheivement in itself.

2) Hossa has played a relativelt small roll in the Hawk's offensive production this postseason. His main roles have been more bread and butter: forechecking, PK, puck possession and defense. In other words, he's a grinder, and hard work doesn't slump.

3) On the other hand, Hossa has the potential to explode. Detroit and Pitt leaned on him for offense and he got them through 3 rounds of playoffs. There's no reason to think that won't come back.

Make no mistake, the Hawks are going to have to play great hockey to win this, but even if Hossa doesn't get a point all series, his presence will do nothing but help the Hawks chances.

Yeah, but you can't sell that on ESPN's "The Herd".... so Hossa is a curse.

The Hawks are going to roll through the Finals. And I would say that even if my Pens were still in it. They are just that much better than anyone in the East. Hell, I think San Jose was better than any team left in the east.

I don't know about that. Philly just as deep at forward if not deeper and the quality if defense is pretty close with both teams biggest question marks being goalie

Yep 1997 they got absolutely embarrassed by detroit.

McCarty's goal was brilliant...

the series was GLOR-E-OUS

Watching the fanbase that calls any star of Pittsburgh a diver/pansey/baby etc. fall apart because Lindros and Co. couldn't handle being beat up by Detriot's big men was super. Straight up Capital

Anybody can win a cup with multiple top 3 picks. Something to be proud of suck for years, almost move and hit a lottery for the number 1 overall pick to get Crosby

Are you saying the Flyers top line is better than Chicago's top offense line??? I wouldn't go that far. I am not saying that because I grew up a hawks fan, I am saying it cause not a lot of teams can compete with an offensive line of Toews, Kane, and Byfuglien. Pronger is a damn good defender though.

Said forward depth and the hawks topline isn't that far ahead of the flyers top line

My bad, mis read it. I'll be interested to see how both Leighton and Niemi hold up. One of them is going to drop their recent form.

Kane and Toews vs Richards and Carter is pretty much a toss up. 4 of the best young players in the NHL right there.

Byfuglien vs. pronger is another great great matchup for the series, there are going to be epic battles in front of the net. Watch for Pronger to play "slap-shot" style hockey and only get called once a game or so because the refs don't want to seem biased (you want an explanation for why Pronger is such a playoff hero, and he is, the reluctance of Refs to call interference and other judgment calls during the playoffs is the best.)

And then there's the Hossa/Sharp/Versteeg factor. These guys are all tremendous offensive talents. If the Flyers somehow manage to shut down Kane Toews and By-foog-lee-en, they still have to answer to these guys.

I've got to say though, Richards is a beast. The Flyers are a very very good team, and Richards has that sort of get on my back and keep going leadership style that Thornton or the Sedin twins lack. This should be one hell of a series and, assuming it goes longer than 4 games, I will be back in Chicago to watch some of it.

Let's do this.

Kane, Toews, By-foo-glee-un combined -9 on the night.

Hossa-Sharp-Versteeg...+6 with 2 goals and 3 assists.

I sure hope so. My brain says no, but my heart says yes. Every single time this team has had there backs up against the wall they've responded. So we'll see.
