This is the first major tournament to be broadcast throughout the world in 3D. I saw ESPN's test broadcast of USC-Ohio State last fall - pretty impressive.
The World Cup should look great, if I can find someone showing it in 3D.

Looks like a good roster, can't wait. There are a lot more soccer fans on this site than you think.

You have to pull for the US. At the very least, go Alemania! Franz Beckenbauer was the man.

So be it! Haha. I come from a strong traditional Italian family. I will always cheer for the Azzurri. Plus as a person who played the sport the sport and has followed it there entire life, I can barely stand watching US soccer. It has improved though. I'll give them that much.

You'll probably all hate me. I will not be cheering for anybody come June 12th, but Go USA, Go England. Love their style of play.

How did Findley make it over Ching??? I just don't see it. Very happy for Herc though...I remember back in the days when he played for the Galaxy and could barely get PT...now he's tearing it up in the Mexican League and set to play in the World Cup.

I worry about our defense though. Gooch is nowhere near 100% and there really isn't a lot of top-flight talent there, if we're being honest. They looked horrible last night.

I agree with you Billy, my money is on Spain. I just want to see the US make it out of group play then win a few in the knock out round.

Like all of you, I love soccer and am absolutely jacked for the WC. My heart is with the USA as I was born and raised here, but my dad was born and raised in Spain, so we all grew up rooting for the Spanish national side and Barcelona (8 days after I was born, we moved to Spain for a year). Watching Spain play beautiful soccer and finally breakthrough to win the EuroCup 2 years ago was one of my favorite sporting days of my life. What a feeling (especially when we dominated Italy and squeaked by on PK's).

However, Spain has a habit of completely choking on the big stage (think Cubs in baseball), so even though we have one of the best teams in the world, I'm still dubious. And the team is banged up, so we'll see.

Regardless, can't wait for June 11th! It's going to make the wait for college football season much more bearable for me...

That's what my roommate and I were talking about today. Lets hope it was the right move. I always thought Ching was better.

ah, that's right!! we kncoked out the smelly step child from the south didn't we???....

(yep ACamp just called them that smelly step child)

Ah yes. Dos a cero. Great score.

Findley over Ching is shocking. I like Findley, but Ching has so much experience and is very reliable. Outside of the US I just cheer for the African teams.

You are saying that La Liga is better to watch that the Premiership?????? Naaaaaa c'mon. Those Spaniards go down waaayyyy to easy. If you mean by entertainment you mean acting, then I am with you. However, if you mean entertainment by good football, I'll take the Premiership over any League in the world.

I'll be cheering for them, but the only reason they will get out of group play is because of a weaker division, and they just as easily could not make it out. I think they had their nice run last year at the Confederations Cup. I just don't see them doing much in knockout play. I hope and I'll cheer that they do, I simply cannot see them doing much, especially after that horrible game against the Czechs yesterday.

Right On, Brother! Erin Go Braugh! Let the Leek Live Free! Gawd(s) Bless Ghandi!

Any attempts on my part to transliterate an Irish, Welsh or Indian accent would pale in comparison to ACamp's Scottish brogue.

I have no favorite outside of the political realm. Since Ireland's not in the mix, I default to USA! USA! USA!

Oh ... and GO IRISH! Kick Kiffin's Trojan Ass!

Hate to break it to you, but 2002 they had a great run. Got past the group stage and then faced arch rival mexico and beat em up. Then got jobbed against Germany. Other than that, 98 and 06 were downright pitiful. Hopefully they keep the pattern going.

Believe it or don't, I'm not a sports fan watcher if I am not particpating in the game itself.

ND football is the only exception and obsession.

World Cup to me at the moment is bigger than Olympics, and this is coming from a track and field guy.

I go with:
1) Estados Unidos de América ... U.S.A. (born and raised)
2) Estados Unidos Mexicanos (Mexico). (many an outstanding friend from there)
3) Espania (for no good reason whatsoever other than my further background and names are from Spain. I'm a mutt...)

Otherwise, all my friends seem to be Irish. Go figure.

Right there with you. I used to play ODP with Benny Fiehlhaber, so it will be cool to see him out there. It's a pretty young team, but the gap is closing. I'm excited to see Argentina, Ivory Coast, and Spain. Nothing beats this tournament

Ivory Coast got a tough draw. I would love to see them get out ahead of Portugal.

Yeah, I hope they lay a licking to those prima donnas. Ivory has so much speed and talent. That group will make the first round really interesting.
