Hey....it takes a whole lot o' smack to keep a chick like his around. It's the Patrick Ewing defense... Yes, he makes a lot, but she spends a lot.

$4M for a guy who has done nothing. He reminds me of a Paris Hilton or any of those other slobs pulling bank for no apparent reason.

They could have spent $4 million on a gold plated port-o-potty and it would have been a better investment.

Raise makes Lane Kiffin the highest-paid assistant at Alabama - CBSSports.com

by Jon Solomon

Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will get paid $1.4 million over an eight-month period until Feb. 28, 2017, according to a minor extension to the third and final year of his current deal. The compensation approved Friday marks the most money Alabama has directly paid Kiffin, who had previously seen his salary offset by his USC buyout that recently expired.
Kiffin was paid $680,000 in his first two seasons at Alabama and was scheduled to make $714,000 in 2016. Kiffin made $2.7 million from USC in 2014 during his first year out of the Trojans' job.
Kiffin's new pro-rated salary at Alabama would amount to $2.1 million over a full year.

Ha, irony, rewatched the clip and they have Sark call in and say that Les Miles is gonna replace Kiffin at 'Bama. Turns out Sark is replacing Kiffin instead, no? It's a small world after all.

Lane Kiffin's $1.4 million contract for eight months (if prorated would be $2.1 million per year) ends in Feb 2017. He could have left for FAU but ...

Alabama's extension contract with Saban rewards every coach bonuses for reaching certain bowls. Every coach at Bama receives 14% of their salary as a bonus for reaching the Playoof semis or 16% if Bama reaches the Championshion. For Kiffin 14% is $196,000 and 16% is $224,000. Bama (and Saban) could have let him move on, but Saban said Kiffin would be with the team through the Playoff. Per Saban's contract, any assistant that leaves prior to the bowls would be penalized 20% of his salary. For Kiffin that would be $280,000. However, Bama did restrict a coach's maximum bonus at $250,000. Kiffin is their highest paid assistant coach. Win today and Saban gets the $250,000 and Kiffin gets the $224,000.

Leaving for FAU early would cost Kiffin the $280,000 penalty and at least a $196,000 bonus -- $476,000.

The big business of college football - at least for coaches.

Who's In (or out)?

Who's In (or out)?

Saban probably waived the 20% penalty for leaving early and Kiffin gets no 16% bonus.

Hard to tell what was agreed upon when he accepted his new gig, but obviously Saban doesn't want him around anymore. Sounds like he spent more time focused on his new gig than he did on game plans.

Both Kiffin and Saban have Jimmy Sexton as their agent, who would have been involved in negotiations.

Report: Ex-Alabama WR sues Lane Kiffin for fraud regarding coaching spot at FAU - CBSSports.com

The lawsuit, filed by former Alabama wideout A.C. Carter, claims Kiffin misled Carter about a job
Ben Kercheval 2h ago

It’s always something with Lane Kiffin.
The first-year Florida Atlantic coach is the subject of a fraud lawsuit filed by former Alabama wide receiver Antonio “A.C.” Carter alleging he was misled by Kiffin regarding a job at FAU. The complaint also names FAU and the state of Florida, according to SEC Country.

I kind of feel bad for him this time. Without knowing the details, if all he did is lie to a recruit saying he wasn't going to leave and then left, I don't see the big deal. A ton of coaches do that.

No. He lied to a former player, saying that the guy would have a job on his staff at FAU, if the guy used his influence with a recruit to get them to commit to Kiffin. Then, after the guy did just that, Kiffin stiffed the former player on the job, AFTER the guy and his wife had already moved to Florida because Kiffin told him it was a done deal.
