I saw this thread on Domer Domain about Ragone and thought I'd share to see if any of you have information. Apparently the birthday is different but then someone chimed in that there is a rumor that he got caught with weed in his car. The poster only had 11 posts but I'm just passing this along for anyone interested. I don't want to tarnish anyone's name and this is absolutely not confirmed.

This is the site where the "information" was found. Please delete this thread if you think it is inappropriate. I don't want to bad mouth this kid, just curious if anyone has heard anything.

Nothing wrong with hitting the ganja every now and then......Unless if you are getting paid/a free education to play a sport.

Can I join your chorus? At this point I can only offer a bass harmony in a three to four note range, though.

Not a huge loss since Ragone has been so mediocre since getting here, but a shame nonetheless.

Did you happen to see the spring game, bud? I definitely think that we can get by without him, having superstar Kyle, however he would have been a very good asset. Plus, if Kyle is injured, it is a significant step down to our other TEs behind Ragone (all have potential but none are ready to play yet).

Damn it.

So who's going to be number two when Ragone gets kicked out: Burger, Eifert, Golic or Welch?

No, I didn't see the spring game, but Nate Montana has also looked good in spring games. I doubt that it shows who will be a real contributor in an actual game.

Ragone I think could have been a big contributor this upcoming fall season. I say 'could have' ... he broke the law, as well as the code of ethics as a student/athlete at ND, so suspend his ass for the season. When door of opportunity closes for one person it opens up for another. Which other TE will take this opportunity to their advantage?

The pot was in his girlfriend's purse, so he could get away with this. With Jones, the roach was in the ashtray, and he basically got away with it, so Ragone should be OK IMO...

What about the officer who smelled the pot coming out of the car? Does that allow for Ragone to suggest plausable deniability? That defense doesn't seem logical to me.

When I read about it being in her purse I thought the same thing NDinLA, at the very least the punishment should be less b/c he wasn't alone, or had it on him.

Yeah, that's not good. I didn't read the SB article yet, I only got a text from a buddy explaining the part about the purse.

I've seen guys get away with a lot worse regarding small amounts of marijuana, only receiving slaps on the wirst from the courts, but then again, those guys weren't football players at the University of Notre Dame (nor did they have to deal with ResLife)...

I am so torn on this issue because I have to put aside my personal feelings regarding the legalization and decriminalization of pot because of how the laws are at this present time. I wanted to state that at the beginning so I don't come across as a complete hypocrite.

There really isn't much difference if the weed was in a girlfriend's purse or in the car ashtray or on Ragone himself. The driver is in control of the vehicle and whether or not the weed was actually found in their immediate possession, they can be found to still be in possession simply because they are in control of the vehicle. The reason behind it is it prevents drivers from stashing any contraband in passenger's belongings or under their seat when they are being pulled over. If Ragone was the passenger, he would have more of an argument to say he was not in possession of the weed and a better chance of getting out of trouble.

This is bull. There is no reason this kid's college and pro career should be jeopardized over a law that more than half the country thinks should not exist.

Well all the speculation is over now, Ragone owned up to one of the bags while being read his Miranda rights. No light at the end of this tunnel this time unfortunately.
