Notre Dame's Tate grabs Biletnikoff Award

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Notre Dame junior wide receiver Golden Tate was awarded the Biletnikoff Award, presented to the top wide receiver in the nation.
Tate, who has already announced his intentions to forgo his senior season and enter the 2010 NFL Draft, caught 93 passes for 1,496 yards and 15 touchdowns for the 6-6 Fighting Irish. Tate also had a punt return for a score as well as two rushing TDs this season.
He is the first Notre Dame player to be awarded the honor.
The other nominees were Texas' Jordan Shipley and Bowling Green's Freddie Barnes, who led the nation in catches with 138 while amassing 1,551 yards and 18 total touchdowns.
Shipley finished with 106 catches for 1,363 yards and 11 touchdowns. In addition, Colt McCoy's favorite target returned two punts for touchdowns and had a 13.0 punt-return average on 24 attempts.
