That sucks. I think he is an under rated coach because his recruiting is so good. Best of luck to him.

That sucks...... now we lost our interim coach. And amazing recruiting coordinator.

Good luck to him though. It just sucks to lose him.

Ianello was my choice over most signicant coach to stay on. He knows all the contacts across the nation. Now ND will have to reintroduce themselves across the nation. I also liked what he did with the receivers. Tate didn't become a skill player by reading the playbook. Ianello did a great job with an athletic RB.

About 44.

If he replicated the Meyer career track he could be ready fo prime time in 5 years. Or like Mike Sanford he could be looking for any job.

who knows, maybe in 5 years he could be the guy to bring ND back

Best of luck to him it sucks to lose him. Watching his press conference after cw was fired it was easy to see why he's such a good recruiter.

Ouch...here's hoping something happens PDQ on the HC front. I really hoped he'd stay on (or be invited to) for continuity of the recruiting...He did do a great job...best of luck to him in Akron.

Would have been nice if the new HC would have had the option...

I like Ianello & it would be nice to keep somebody like him on as a liaison from the old staff during this transformation but I can also see the desire for a clean slate.

I'm betting BK wants to bring his staff with him.

Kelly is only likely to bring his long time OC and Strength Coach.

It will be interesting to see if Ianello brings any of the ND staff with him.

Good luck to Ianello. He has some very nice facilities at Akron. Ohio is a good state to recruit in. Akron could make waves in the MAC soon.

theres been rumors that Powlus will go with Ianello

from footballcoachscoop.com

Akron:
Our sources have informed us and we are the FIRST TO REPORT that new Head Coach Rob Ianello has hired Ron Powlus (Notre Dame Quarter Backs coach) and will try to get John Latina (former Notre Dame Offensive Line Coach/Ole Miss Offensive Coordinator) to join the staff at Akron.

Hey, I know this is kind of silly, but anyone remember how things worked out with the last head coach Notre Dame hired to replace a head coach who'd left for Akron?
