Let me spell it our for you.

Look at teams who ahve won national championships in the last 20 years and teams that are consistantly in the top 10 in the polls and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM have pulled in consistant top 10 classes. As good as Boise, TCU, and Cincy have been in the last few years there success is directly related to good coaching and sub par competition. Name me a BCS school that has won consistantly with 3 star guys and the big east does not count?

Why wouldn't the conference that we are 0-4 against the last 2 years count?

I am usually a luker.

If ND offers Kelly he will be driving to South Bend before he hangs up his cell to tell ND he's accepting the offer.

Kelly left CMU for Cincy and coached against his former team in what is now the Pizza Pizza Bowl 4 years ago.

Until about 3 weeks ago I thought Stoops was a wish list type buy now having lost 5 games this year and 4 of the last 5 to Texas he might want to jump rather than get pushed out in Norman.

That will be a good thing especially if they practice TACKLING!

You go but you play the seniors sparingly. We need to get the underclassmen some playing time. I have to think that some of these players who have been sitting would love to get in and see some action. It would also be a good audition for the players to show the new head coach what they got. I don't think CW should coach it plus I think Tenutu should be gone as well.

As I type this message, Tenuta should be on the phone with Mayflower getting out of town. Let Corwin coach the last game against Stanford. Tenuta has been an absolute disgrace.

Also, I noticed UConn's coach after the game saying that they didn't make adjustments on defense after the opening drives! They knew what was coming and stayed the course. That makes two out three weeks in which one of our units was called out for being predictable (Navy called out the defense). How can these guys, with all their collective experience, not be making adjustments? When your opponents actually tell you what you're doing wrong and how they beat you doesn't that indicate that you need to adjust?

Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know anymore.

If you get invited to a bowl, you have to go. Just for the extra practice, if nothing else.

practice? at what? if it's clear that cw's not going to be here next season why play a bowl game for practice when you don't have an established coaching staff?????

to me, it's a waste of time. if cw is fired (which we can all agree that this is highly likely), what is the point in playing in a bowl game? it's not like nd is in need of money.

Even the posters on this board have talked about the predictability of the ND coaching. The pros are just confirming it. So be it.

Not crazy just disappointed. Next year is a new one and we have more to look forward to. Nobody can say what if about Charlie staying another year not even Mick2.

yeah but if we don't bring in the new coaching staff....what's the point of practice?

That's what I've been saying too. If you let the assistants coach, many of whom are loyal Jersey guys (like Verducci), they may poison the team or encourage them to transfer to the next school they go to. In addition to the previous point, this defense needs no further "coaching" from the group of coordinators currently on the staff; they haven't even them how to tackle!!

YES...totally agree...the team made a perceptible improvement (especially AA) offensively last year at that bowl game...still not sure what happened to our D this year, but the O was potent for the most part....and it began at the bowl game...if we could only get the D to click like that in whatever toilet bowl we go to this year, we could be tough...

yeah they made improvement with a coaching staff that was going to be here for the following season. why would you have them practice with a coaching staff that might not be here next season?????

that would be pointless. unless whom ever the new coach was....kept the interim coaches on the new coaching staff. but you can't predict that.

i just think it would be a waste of time if you don't have next season's coaching staff in position to direct the team.

New coach will coach the bowl game, right?

Sometimes, Brian Kelly's first game at Cincy was the 2006 International Bowl. He had lead Central Michigan to the Motor City Bowl that same year and did not coach them in the bowl.

Hopefully our new coach wont be availible to coach our bowl because his current team is playing a BCS game (unless its Stoops, who I would love to have).

...yea I see your point...it is different...still think the extra multiple weeks of practice, and another game is good...regardless

he is also the man who ended a 9 yr bowl win drought...but yall wanna say one of the 3 worst?

I don't think anyone wants to say "one of the 3 worst". But with todays loss only Jerry Faust and Joe Kuharich have a worst winning % at ND then Charlie. That is not an opinion, its a fact.

all i know is thetuna was arguing that ty was a better coach than charlie in another thread so anything he says is suspect at this point.

i hope the new coach we get will be coaching a team in a bcs game.

I vote Lou. Let's get a petition to get him to 'guest coach' the Irish in the bowl game.

Sadly, the team has 20 losses in three years.....the most in school history. When the Notre Dame fanbase is reduced to celebrating a win in the Hawai'i Bowl against the fourth place team in the WAC it's not a good sign.

Unfortunate but true. Both Ty and Davie also beat better teams than Charlie did. Both had far better defenses. Charlie did lead the most prolific passing era at ND but alos the weakest running era. The best teams at ND controlled the line of scrimmage and Charlie has never done that. I like Charlie but he talked alot of shit and rarely backed it up. HE didn't lack for effort but he lacked in execution. is offense this year and the tail end of last year has been beyond predictable. The numbers show procudtivity in totla yards but red zone production has been a joke. If we eliminated the corner jumps balls we would only have about 3-4 wins.

We're 6-5 and could be better but could defintely be worse. Charlie's team has not quit this year but they do come out flat. Ty's team did quit on him the last season. Recruiting and big buyouts saved CW for another year. At least we won't wonder what it with CW.

Yesterday was a new twist on the same story: the team played hard for 15 minutes. The difference between this week and previous weeks was that they played hard in the first 15 vs. the last 15. I never saw this team play a complete game this year....it's too bad.

The opening post in this thread is confrontational and smacks of trollness.... If CW is gone - I would vote against a bowl.

Since we are not BCS eligible, we will be considered a Big East member during the selection. If it were today, we would probably play Central Michigan in Detroit after Christmas.

We need to go only unless it is a team unanimous vote not to.

I second that.

I guess I just want to watch ND play football even during the toughest times if for nothing else to evaluate talent. Would love to see what Shaq or Deion could do etc. Of course if we lost I would be the first to say would should have turned it down. I think turning down a bowl game smacks of "We think we're too good". What teams turn bowl games down nowadays? What if we turned down the Hawaii Bowl last year. I say take it.

Central Michigan? I think you meant Temple.
