Based on the new Sagarin Ratings ND will be a 7 point underdog.

Either going to be real close, or ND by 20+. Kinda shocking to see Pitt in the top 10 also

He didn't make a prediction. Those were general thoughts.

Because whenever you think a coach is going to get fired, the team always comes up big. And Pitt only has one win that impresses me (USF) and a loss that is worse that any of ours (NC State)

Dont answer a question with a question. You said Pitt was good. I asked you who have they beaten that warrants that statement. I never said a word about us. I was talking about Pitt, and I am still waiting for an answer.

I know a lot of people were curious, and I don't know if it was posted anywhere, but Herbstreit is calling the Pitt game.

The keys to beating Pitt, in my amateur opinion.

Offense

1. As Washington, USC, BC, WSU, and Navy have done, Pittsburgh will be dropping seven or eight back into coverage on every down. Put Golden Tate in the slot and have him run little 5-8 yard routes in the middle of the field. If Rudolph is available, have him do the same. Run Michael Floyd and Duval Kamara on short curls and quick outs.
2. With only a four man front, run either Armando Allen or Theo Riddick to the outside on stretch plays and tosses.
3. Run draw plays up the middle with any running back, preferably Armando if available. Eventually, the safeties will come up and you can launch a deep ball.
4. Find ways to score in the redzone. Limit the fades, because they are a very low percentage play and Michael Floyd could aggravate his injury coming down with a catch. Try something over the middle to Kamara or Rudolph, where there is a height advantage, possibly a floater into the back of the endzone? A quick slant to Tate?
5. Do NOT throw those wide receiver screens to Robby Parris. In fact, limit those plays severely. Golden Tate is the only player on the team that can gain anything longer than an eight yard gain on those screens (with the exception of Michael Floyd against Nevada).
6. None of those fade outs. Never works.

Defense

1. Establish the battle in the trenches. Shut down Dion Lewis early, so you can drop more defensive backs into coverage and focus on Stull, Jonathan Baldwin, and Dorin Dickerson.

This game has the MSU game in 2006 feel to it. We were playing to save our season at that point, and it might be considered pretty late in the season to be "saving" it right now, but I really feel like it is. We could easily either win our last 3 games or lose them all, and Pitt is the toughest game we have left. I honestly think that a win here means Weis' job is safe, we're back in the top 25, and we will finish 9-3 and go to either the Gator Bowl, Cotton Bowl, or even a BCS Bowl (That sounds crazy now, but a big win over Pitt puts us back in the top 25 and its not totally inconceivable for us to jump 10 spots over the last two weeks. There's also not many appealing at-large teams right now, as the Bama/Fla loser and TCU seem like the only teams who are certain to be chosen while 10-2 USC, 10-2 Iowa, 10-2 PSU and 12-0 Boise would be the only real competition for the last two spots).

I would be more comfortable in the Gator Bowl.

The fact of the matter is that we simply cannot compete with a BCS caliber program, right now (an argument could be made for USC, but they do have two losses and the two teams from Oregon absolutely destroyed their defense). Our defense is simply too terrible.

I would love to play Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl.

Matchup of the game: Pitt DE Greg Romeus vs Paul Duncan. Romeus is a physical freak and Duncan struggles against players lke this. IF Notre Dame does not give him help, it is going to be a long day for Clausen.

I love Notre Dame. With that said we have no chance Sat against Pitt. I think they embarras us and leave no doubt about Charlies future. Its sad for me as I wanted this guy to succeed not only for the school but for him and his effort. I really hate saying this and will take the beating from you guys who think I'm a turncoat. Not at all, as I would like to be wrong, but the facts are the facts. The one comment that should be posted is that with the effort he gave I think the players let him down.

1) I'm glad CGD will be in texas instead of pittsburgh. gameday at 10 am with an 8pm kickoff would leave polish leppy 22 in a pitt hospital sun morning with an IV in each arm

2) If I see Musberger I'll make fun of him. herby is a good dude

I think I'm almost more excited for this game due to the Navy loss. Just really anxious to see whether or not the team comes to play.

No chance! There is no way ND goes from just a few votes in the polls now to the top 12 (which is what it would take to even be considered BCS potential) by winning these last 3 games. I would expect somewhere between 15th and 20th.
