Davie is doing the color of the Independence Bowl between Colorado and Alabama. He was asked how he used to get teams ready to play bowl games. He responded by saying that he was the wrong guy to ask considering how ND did in bowl games that he coached. How true.

Davie was a good D coach. He was in over his head as ND head coach. I always liked his personality though.

Davie was obsessed with my friend Jimmy Berezik from Grand Valley State University. Anyone watch that game?
Davie literally had a good thing to say about him after every play.

I was watching this bowl game with my wife and we both got a big laugh out of something else Davie said. He commented on one play about the tight end released and went "unmolested" down the field.

My wife said "who talks like that"?

Of course, I replied with a series of "they really must work on their molesting" type comments. We probably laughed for a good ten minutes.

Every time I see "bob davie", I read "boOb davie". Is it just me?

Not at ALL! Davie was the one that STARTED the belly-aching about ND's recruiting disadvantages, ven when the NBC contract was in its first term, an unprecedented recruiting ADVANTAGE. All in all, he got in over his head, ruined the Lovecchio kid, needlessly got Jarius Jackson hurt, and basically rode the wave that Holtz' recruiting set up for him. When that petered out, so did Bob Davie, whining about how hard the job was the whole way.
