I read that hendrix and welsh are recruiting him hard to get him to play for the irish. Thats always great to hear other recruits are working to build a great class for ND

An "unofficial" visit? Thats good because I'm sure ND would also get an "official" visit. If we're able to keep him visiting, I would think our chances are really good. Go Irish!

It will be his 5th visit to ND this year. Maybe he just wanted to see how the Oline was going to perform this year. I would say dam well.

Matt James still considering four

Matt James still considering four

Per ISD 9/21
OT Matt James maintains a top 4 of ND OSU CIN UF. Wants to make OVs to all 4 before making decision. Made another unofficial to ND for MSU game.

I wanted to see how the offensive line looked under (offensive line) coach Verducci, and you can tell they've really developed.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Two new five-star prospects in the Rivals100

Matt James is a new addition to the Rivals100. The 6-8, 280-pound offensive tackle from Cincinnati St. Xavier was previously ranked as the nation's No. 111 player, but he now moves into the No. 58 spot. He will also move up to the No. 7 offensive tackle. James is considering Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

I'll believe he commits to Cinci if he commits to Cinci, which is unlikely. It's a two-horse race between ND and tOSU.

Err that makes no sense... You believe he commits to Cinci if he commits to Cinci? But that is unlikely? Eh?

He's got some class-mates and friends at Cinci - didn't his dad go there? Problem is - how many people think Kelly will be there more than a year?

Kelly will be out of Cinci once the job at ND opens up. And thanks irishfan I understand his sentence now.

Nobody aspires to finish their career at Cinci - there are too many Elites that from year to year come calling. Georgia, could be back in the hunt - Jimbo Fisher? Give me a break he already runs Fla.St. and he's going to turn it around? Colorado? Illinois?

Jimbo Fisher doesn't run FSU. All the coaches on the team were hired by Bowden. I could see Georgia, but you don't go from Cinci to go to Colorado and or teams like Illinois, its a lateral move. Kelly is going to hedge his bets until things at ND sort themselves out. He is making good money at Cincy and if the opportunity opens up I would be shocked if he didn't take the ND job.

Georgia firing Richt is as stupid as Auburn firing Tuberville. What will make those decisions even worse is seeing them win at another school while Auburn and Georgia go back to mediocraty

At Cincinnati he can be the Bobby Bowden of the Big East winning the conference and getting a lock on a BCS bowl. At UGA he get to compete for 3rd place in the SEC East.

Cincinnati has the 109th toughest schedule according to Sagarin; UGA is #3.

Jim Leavitt had the chance to jump to several big name programs. He stayed at USF with a steady diet of Big East wins supplemented with a rugged Out of Conference schedule including Wofford, Western Kentucky, and Charleston Southern. He's got the 143rd toughest schedule AND a #21 Coaches Ranking.

There's one major difference. Tuberville was winning the rivalry games. In fact, Auburn beat 'Bama for 6 straight times for the first time ever under him. Richt is not. He is 2-6 against Florida.

Auburn isn't exactly slipping to mediocrity. They are plagued by turnovers and a weak D, but after the first few games of his first year as HC, Chizik is looking like he's going to have success.

But you are missing one thing, Florida hasn't been mired in mediocrity like Bama has been for the last 10 yrs. or so. Until last year, Bama has been no better than us.

Recruiting Thoughts

Matt James – I haven’t heard a peep about James in quite some time. No idea where his recruitment stands, but Cincinnati and Ohio State were the competition as of a few weeks ago. I assume it’s the same?

No change.

Best Run Blocker #3 James

This mammoth four-star offensive tackle (6 feet 8, 290 pounds) is the definition of a road grader.
