Jonas Gray Better than Armando

I'm convinced. He's bigger, just as quick, blocks well, breaks more tackles, and can catch.

Any arguments for either side?

I was just kidding. I like all of our running backs, but I think Charlie's love child AA is turning into a stud.

AA stays until dethroned - didn't see Jonas break any 30 yarders - the one to the corner, just shy of the stake was nice.

all the RB's looked good. AA is still the starter tho. having Jonas gray, and theo riddick in the conversation is progress. a few years ago, we would have took any player that was half way decent. now we have a good RB in Allen, with 2 guys right behind him ready to be 'the guy' if AA should slip up a little bit. this is a good position to be in.

I like the rotation of gray and allen. IMO hughes should only be used in short yardage situations. Gray has the big play ability as does allen. Gray will break more tackles than allen but just isn't as experienced yet, to be named the starter. Theo has great potential but is just way too inexperienced to jump either of the others. I would like to see some pro set once in a while with allen and either theo or gray lined up next to him, opposing defenses could not match up with both players in passing routes. Well, i'm done coaching for today, lol.

Gray is 1 year behind Armando. Matt Barkley, Andrew Luck, Tate Forcier are all true freshmen starters who have more responsibility than a running back

Allen didn't break any 30 yarders, either. In fact, Allen's long run was 14, to Gray's 19 yarder. I still think Allen is the starter, but not because he breaks a bunch of long runs.

I'm totally not sold on Allen. Matter of fact I think hes a weak running back. Cant break tackles for shit and goes down if you blow on him. I think the way Jonas ran on saturday with limited touches was better than Allen therefore I would LOVE to see Jonas be the starting back.

LOL. Good one. I like Wood too and Theo. They are still raw young talent. Not ready yet this year so thats why I'm going with Jonas Gray as my starting back. Theo and Wood are going to be beast though and I wouldnt be surprised if one of them ends up transfering.

I know I'm on the minority on this one, but I like Robert Hughes way better than Jonas Gray. Gray looks slow to me and he doesn't pound the rock.

Never said I saw AA break 30 - however - When on the 1 yard line - he was security getting the ball out of danger. Until he's dethroned.

Something tells me Riddick will shine this year.

Jonas is way faster than Hughes! He was clocked at 4.35 and 4.44, which are possibly the exaggerated HS times, but who knows.

Honestly, Allen just needs one big run and he's gonna break lose and be a stud. When he took that screen for a TD against Hawaii and for once actually seemed to run full speed, I just knew he was gonna take the next kick return to the house. You can tell he knows it too, and that's why he was so frustrated when he would break through the line and get tackled by the safety.

If Armando is going to be anything special at ND it's going to have to happen w/in the next couple of weeks, he really hasn't done anything to impressive at this point. Jonas Gray is inexperienced compared to Allen; however I think Gray should've had the call for the TD on Saturday. I too want to see what Wood can do.

I've been telling my wife for the last 48 hours that AA is gonna bust his longest career run this Saturday. A 22-yard run isn't exactly a big "bust," but I'm feeling a 40 yarder. One of those homer hunches. Think I'm right.

Never said I saw AA break 30.

I dont think anyone has seen AA run for 30+.....during the game on Saturday they said his career long-run is a whopping 21 yards.

Another fact I find jaw-dropping - not counting his TD in the NEV game, AA only has 3 TD's rushing, and 3 TD's receiving for his career.

We can't be watching the same Gray and Hughes. Gray is just as quick as Armando. Hughes is a bruiser but RB's in Charlie's offense need a lot more than that

just as quick? really? please tell me you dont actually believe that

Watch Jonas and Armando go through bag drills...not much of a drop off. And Armando, although it isn't ALL his fault, hasn't lived up to expectations.

I hope he proves me wrong soon. If not Jonas is going to get more carries, as he should. If Armando doesn't think it can happen (and some of you who don't think it can happen), ask Hughes and Aldridge.

Give AA time - he if finally running behind an O-Line that has a coach and TA is teaching AA to find the correct holes that the big men create. AA will be fine and prove to be our #1.

Enjoy the win people!!!!!

Polish, there's a difference between quick and fast. I'm no AA fan to be honest, but he is quicker than Gray. But Gray definitely has more tools. AA just goes down too easily. But in his defense, he's had a crappy line, he catches the ball well out of the backfield, and he's a much better pass blocker than Gray. Also, Gray has had fumble issues.

But Gray is just a sophomore and it'll be interesting to see him with the ball in his hands more.

Hughes - my favorite RB, but he hasn't chosen what kind of back he's going to be according to CW. Great ace in the hole, but still, he hasn't shown the coaches enough in practice.

Theo/Cierre - freshmen usually struggle the most in pass protection, especially knowing WHOM to block on the blitzes. I'm really excited about both though. Theo has been a pleasant surprise!!!

*** Bottom line: In this case, I'll just defer to the coaches. If they think AA is the best at EVERYTHING that goes with being a RB, then he should start. But the other guys should carry the rock too if they earn. And then they should ride the hot hand baby. Just my opinion...

People always seem to think the next guy is better. Last year people wanted Clausen benched for Crist. Your already hearing that Theo should play more and where is Wood. Gray has great tools and has moved into the #2 but your opinion is based entirely on what you see in 3 minute clips at practice and a few plays against the 2nd team in garbage time in a game.

Hughes is also my favorite RB NDinLA. Maybe it was because his prother died but i got alot of love for that kid. I hope he turns it around.
