It's articles like this that lead me to the Kool-Aid. Combined with analysis of our opponents liimited QB experience, it is hard not to expect a great season. I find myself thinking that I will be severly disappointed if we don't make a BCS bowl.

This is the year. We have to make a run at the NC.

I completely agree..... no reason we shouldnt, all that stands in our way is USC.

i had a preminition last night. Opening play again USC Armando Allen returns opening kickoff. Next USC play Blanton jumps a hitch rout for 6. Clausen throws 3 TD's. We win 42-3. Revenge for the past 2 owned sessions

Not really. while they beat us handily in Quinn's last year, we didnt get owned. Quinn to McKnight first play of the game for fifty yards, Quinn's 60 yard run. The offense had life, USC's offense was just too much

Don't forget about Joe McKnight though. It could be his and Barkley's defining game just as easily as it could be Clausen's.

Honestly it is not USC that I am most worried about though. Its teams like Stanford and Washington and Nevada that scare me.

I had to dig this back up because I'm bored. I hate this time of year. News is slow and football seems like such a long way off. Anyway.....Assuming, as the first post suggests, o-line experience can predict success.....

With our starting line comprised of 4 seniors and a 5th year senior, do we need to get it done this year? Of course, we'd like to, but is this our best shot and we take a step back in 2010 because our o-line is once again "young?" Or, will those 4 guys stay around for a 5th year and we are primed for a NC run in 2010?

Thoughts?

Sam Young, Paul Duncan, and i believe Eric Olsen are done after this year. Dan Wenger and Chris Stewart both are eligible for a 5th year. Let's not forget Trevor Robinson, so our O-line should still be good in 2010. Plus, if the spring reports are correct Andrew Nuss and Braxton Cave both appear to be studs, but Tackle will be an issue.

You are correct...not sure what I was thinking. This does concern me a little for 2010. I should just concern myself with this season...

Thanx and don't forget Matt Romine, who if wasn't injured might have competed for that Left Tackle spot

IMO, we will return 2 5th year seniors in 2010, plus a beast in Trevor Robinson and Braxton Cave. As long as we keep recruiting the beasts, I think we will be fine. I think we are that good that we are at the stage where we will not be rebuilding but reloading. We are going to be in just a fine position in 2010, hopefully returning 2 starers, 2 players with a lot of experience, and hopefully one sleeper

That 100 starts for the Oline is slightly misleading. Sam Young has started since his opening day his freshman year, he alone counts for over 1/3 of that total by himself. and he hasnt exactly lit it up. But that 100 starts does indicate some stability starting to take shape; and it does represent progress. I'd rather have 100 starts, than 36, but its still misleading.

Sam Young is good player, approaching a very good player. but at the same time, I have been disappointed in his play, I expected more. He'll get drafted to the NFL, alot of that is based on his behemeth size, but dude needs to improve his footwork.
