Yeah, i'd rather them recruit him hard and for him to spurn them for us. Nothing like getting a recruit from USC... and Florida...

This is some info that I found out about Shaq a couple of weeks ago. It is the original post from the VC and someone took it and posted it on DD. Now its hit Rivals and Scout so I might as well share it with you guys.

Alright Shaq Evans wanted to end his recruitment early, but what we didn't know is that he was set to commit to ND. He was going to commit when coach Polian told him to take his visit and see how ND is before making his college decision. He reinforced to Shaq that he is our #1 receiver on the board and a spot would be there in Sept.

Shaq is turned off by the WR class at USC right now and doesn't favor Neuheisel at UCLA.

Shaq is no means a silent, but if his visit goes well he will commit that weekend.

wow. seems odd telling a kid to wait longer, but it probably makes the staff look even more credible to shaq and his parents.

ND=NC correct me if I'm wrong didn't Shaq want to end his recruitment early because he was getting sick of all the whole process?

if the reason he commits is because he wants to get the process over i would be worried about him de-committing i would rather him not commit now for the wrong reasons and have him come to ND fall in love with it and then commit after that it would make me feel better about him signing on NSD when a commitment really counts

ND=NC, I am sorry, but you are incorrect. Evans was this close to committing to UCLA, but Polian convinced him to take an official to notre dame and now he is very likely to choose the irish.

either way it really goes to show how this coaching staff is raising the level of recruits. it is showing integrity and its great to see them practicing what they preach

With respect for your sources, take this to PM with ND=NC so we can sort this out and prevent the spread of incorrect news.

We are in the typical quiet period with Seasons starting up. It will get a little more active as recruits start visiting for games.

i think this may also be an actual recruiting quiet period where the coaches can't call. i think that ends sept 1.

ESPN2 is showing Mater Dei vs Carson right now. Shaq Evans and Cierre Wood were on the sidelines and were interviewed.

Shaq says he's still considering (in his stated order, FWIW) USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, Colorado and Michigan. This month on the 26th he's taking a visit to ND and in the future to Colorado and Michigan.

Cierre, asked why he chose ND, said not only is it a young team that he has a chance to play early, he also gets an education from ND which is excellent if football doesn't work out. Said the ND campus made him feel at home, like a family. Told the ESPN reporter he prefers to be listed as a RB (they have him listed as an Ath).

afterwards the camera showed them hanging out and laughing. keep working him Cierre!
