I've always wondered if there's an untold story about that guy. His fall from the top was swift, and I wouldn't even say he was THAT bad at Texas. It took him years to get another gig and even then it was a low level one where he didn't even last 2 years. I compare that someone like Scott Frost, who had a much worse run at a lower tier p4 program and a truckload of off-field issues.
