They did it for Ronaldo too, so that helps justify it. It's really dumb that there's no appeal process, so I don't feel bad because it was a BS red to begin with.

Re: Mexico. I was late to viewing soccer, so when I began enjoying it, they had Chicarito as Fox-in-the-Box striker, a guy named Guardado at attacking mid, a guy named Hector Herrera at holding mid, one good dirty center back, and a decent goalie. The rest of the team were dirty players (and Herrera no saint.) They were simply better than us. I could have tolerated that, but not only were they a dirty team, their fans were incredibly filthy-mouthed scum. When I added to that the astounding fact (to me) that they dominated the stands in our US-located "home" games, and were still the vilest bunch of assholes in sport fandom, it became VERY hard to do anything but hope they never won a soccer game again. (This was unfortunate, because I rather liked Hernandez as a player and personality.)

Couldn't give less of a fuck about that. FIFA is extremely corrupt as it is, and the ref that gave the red card had been under investigation in Brazil for corruption.
Absolutely bonkers that they let a ref who had been investigated for corruption be involved in the World Cup.

Everyone knows that FIFA as an organization is corrupt but everyone is willing to get past it as long as it's not affecting the play and the outcome.

Letting a ref who had been investigated for corruption participate is a way worse look than taking away the suspension, imo.

Glad they lifted the suspension on Balogun. It was a bullshit red card in the first place. USA will need every player against a quality Belgium side. Would have been a shame if he was banned for something so trivial. Yeah, it turned out bad because there was an associated ankle role, but that was largely incidental. It was a surefire yellow card, but a red card was super harsh in that instance.

plus it has all the Euroweenies seething and coping.
Can confirm.

I am on an Everton message board that I rarely post on and the Brits are melting down.

I think I've posted on there more times in the last hour than in all the years I have been a member combined.

A red is already so punishing for that match, multi game suspensions only fit for injury or flagrant fouls (nuke Pepe into the ground fuck that guy forever, Chiellini too).

Agreed. The fact that they sent him off and made the US play a man down for 30+ was more than enough punishment for something that didn't appear to be intentional.

Only the Euro pussies and the South American Nancies think you need to be suspended after you've already been sufficiently punished, for something that wasn't a flagarant intent to injure. Human Beings are capable of reviewing film and deciding intent. We do it in sports like Hockey and Football all the time... The idea that a red card comes with an auto-suspension is ridiculous on it's face.

I'd be quicker to suspend the lady boys of the sport for their ridiculous acting and diving during the course of an otherwise competitive game, then I would to suspend a guy on an effort play that led to an unfortunate ankle roll. I understand that the acting / drama is a part of soccer. I played the game at a competitive years. Basketball has a lot of the same "sales" tactics in it when it comes to drawing fouls... But some players (and cultures) take it wayyyyyy too far and the fact that more officials don't punish guys for it is outright embarrassing for the sport.

Happy 4th of July indeed.

I’d be, ‘just because you Brits don’t understand soccer,…’

The wankers are really making it difficult for me to root against Mexico. I still will. But, under even more protest than before.

If they've done it other times then it's less bad lol
Obviously people are going to disagree if it was "bad' or not.

But, it's not unprecedented. The international reaction I am seeing is acting like this has never happened before and that the U.S. kicked their dogs and screwed their wives in addition to getting a favorable position that 'nobody else would get."

Man, I don't know enough about Mexican soccer to know why exactly I'm supposed to hate them. I'm sure there's reasons. But England gives strong Michigan vibes. Longtime power living on some theoretical past glory. Seems to think they invented the sport. Fans are total cockbags.
Can't root for those people. Go Mexico.
Mexico is (historically) a dirty side that intentionally tries to injure opponents. You can watch YT videos or find Google images of American players being choked, stomped on, our guys will have ripped jerseys, etc. Plus, the Mexican fans will throw batteries and piss bottles at opposing players and assault opposing fans. Mexican football is like every bad stereotype of Philly fans amplified by 10x. Fuck them forever, I want to see a hole open in the ground and swallow the Azteca.

I’m glad someone else mentioned it,… I have three notable scars, one on my lower left side from a crowbar, one on the bottom of my chin and a large defensive scar on the bottom of my left wrist all because I had the sheer audacity to be born in a Mexican American neighborhood and live through the 94 World Cup, I was my daughters age then and these scars were given to me by grown ass men. I’ll take great joy whenever they get knocked out of this thing. Hating England is cute,… this one ain’t cute or fun or ‘sports’, it’s way beyond that.
