#15 EDGE, #104 Overall by 247
I knew they’d be way off
On3 / rivals have him at a 89 now. lol.

Our 2027 class is going to include two criminally low rated 5 star juniors in Monds / Vaughn

Now that they know he has re-classified, if he goes out and has a monster junior season, he'll vault up the rankings. The same is true of Champ Monds. There will be a keen focus on both of them should they have good summers, compete at some camps and show out during their junior seasons. Both could easily cement themselves inside the top 100.

That said, all that really matters is that ND lands them and that they play well when they arrive in South Bend.

Crazy how we're in on so many big time defensive linemen. I keep having to check their profiles to remember who they all are.

I think he’s going to be my #1 for this class. His jump off the snap and the violence he plays with is elite.

I've taken 5 steps back from following recruiting. Can someone fill me in on the mindset of 1) the coaching staff and 2) the player when it comes to re-classifying?

Elite kids want to make money sooner.
This and a decent chunk of these guys are basically just reclassing into the class they should have been in to begin with. Lot of these guys have been held back along the way to give them a physical advantage over their peers. No idea if that is the case with Vaughn but its incredibly common with the increase in football factory prep schools. Would also be interested if there are a higher number of kids reclassing from states that don't allow NIL to high schoolers

and many want to just get paid a year earlier in college/nfl.

I understand that these reporters want to give him his moment, but if Vaughn picks anyone else it would be one of the more shocking decisions that I can remember while following recruiting.

What's the theory behind that? Just curious
They have become very close over the last year as they have been on several visits together.

I think he will be smaller (at least shorter) but the word is his strength is elite for a 230 pound rising junior

Yeah his length actually seems a bit shorter than we’ve had historically. He reminds me more of some of the OLB type guys that convert to edge eventually.

He's probably 6'3, but he has 81" ws, lol.

My comp is Abdul Carter.
