My Braves are done before the season. AA did a terrible job of making sure we had respectable starting staff.

@IrishLion or any other locals - you ever been to the Reds opening day events? I always knew that it was a big day but didn’t realize that it took over the whole city! Parade loaded with Hall of famers and all, huh?

Yeah, Opening Day in Cincy is a holiday for the city lol. (Though this year there were nearly riots in the entertainment district right outside the stadium after the game, crowds were wild and unruly, young people went crazy).

Today is “Kids’ Opening Day.” They’ll do a mini parade and then a Reds Red Carpet where players walk around a path outside the stadium and sign autographs on their way in for all the kids that line up and get a good spot. They’ll have a mini festival with games and stuff set up somewhere outside the gates of the stadium, then they let the kids run the bases after the game.

Grab a tall cold craft beer at one of the stadium markets, grab a slice of fresh Larosas (always tastes better at the stadium or the Cincinnati Zoo) or a few cheese coneys, and have yourself a perfect day at the ballpark

(The best food item in the ballpark is the Montgomery Inn Pulled Pork Nachos. Warm kettle chips topped with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, jalepenos, and some other stuff. Just outstanding.)

Noted. We’re headed that way around 9am tomorrow which puts us in about 2 hours before the game. Any suggestions on where to go eat and have a few beers before the game?

Right outside the stadium is The Banks. Several bars and restaurants with food options. Holy Grail is a cool hangout for a beer, and is literally on the stadium doorstep.

My preferred spots are on the KY side of the River, just across the River from the stadiums. You can pick Newport or Covington in KY. Eat, drink, then walk or catch a quick Uber across the bridge to the Cincy riverfront.

If Newport, I recommend Hofbrauhaus for a large German beer on the back patio in the beautiful weather and some German food if you like. Right across from Hofbrauhaus is Bourbon House Pizza. They have deep dish pizza that is really good, but a two-hour window waiting for the deep dish might be pushing it, so the hand-tossed pizza is also pretty damn good and is a quicker order.

Covington, KY is a bit easier trip across the suspension bridge to the stadiums. Molly Malone’s is a cool spot for a full Irish Breakfast and a Guinness, or you can go to Smoke Justis for wings or other barbecue food and good beer.

Amazing recap. Much appreciated. I’ve been many times and the go to has always been that bar by the entrance. Typically, after the game is when we’d cross the river for the late night.

With the old man this time however, maybe we start in KY then walk across the bridge from there.

Speaking of beefs in the other thread, Bourbon House pizza supposedly has one that is really good knockoff version, but I haven’t tried it yet. You should stop by and let me know how it holds up lol

And if you’re on the KY side of the River late at night, you have to end the night with a trip to Dixie Chili in Monmouth Street for the real OG Cincy Chili

Is this Bourbon house place close to the stadium/parking? A pizza and pitchers might be the answer for 3.

If you end up in Covington m/Newport I suggest stopping by The Party Source.

About a 10-15 min walk across the bridge from Newport on the Levee to the Cincy side of the River.

They also have shuttles that run across the bridges on Gameday.
