The following are all true:
1) There are multiple DTs that were available in the portal
2) ND is attractive in terms of money
3) ND is attractive in terms of coaching

Which means to me, if ND fails to land DT's in the portal it must be an admissions issue.

I don't see any downside to Mukam returning, and I don't see ND turning him away even if they had filled his spot through the portal. Like I tell my kids, no matter how bad your situation gets, just come home.

It's still wayyyy too early to assert that, IMO... The Portal is open for the better part of another week and we're still seeing people jump in. There is definitely back channeling happening and I find it improbable that there isn't a player out there that will take a hefty sum of money to come showcase themselves at Notre Dame and compete for national championship.

If I'm wrong, I'll own it.

Just to be clear, the 16th is the deadline for the players to enter the portal. They can sign with a new school whenever.

Players can also get off scholarship a number of other ways if they really want to.

Oh, definitely. I'm just talking about the Portal in the broadest sense and the dates that govern it. They can keep signing players for a longggggg time yet, as long as they enter the Portal before the 16th.

Regardless, I suspect ND will be looking for approximately 7-8 players in this cycle (1-2 fewer than I originally anticipated). I think that no fewer than 6 of those players will be signed by the close of the Portal next week.
