ISD with a few updates:

  • Brewu probably ending up at Ohio State which would put them in a tough spot with the Bama package deal.
  • Things going well with Graham, but he has some concerns. Didn’t think he would end up back at OSU, but could see it with their attrition now.
  • Porter hasn’t visited but ND in a good position.
  • Keeley hasn’t taken any other visits and has moved out of Bama this weekend.

ISD Freeman just now. Brewu trending to OSU, could see Graham returning to OSU now that so many WRs have left, ND visit went great but he did have some concerns. In strong spot with other OSU.

Zero mention of reason to believe we get a DT. Simply an ignored subject outside of Brewu.

So what's the deal with Mukam? I saw he visited VA a couple days ago. Is he gone, or fishing for offers before coming back?

Are we sure that Keeley isn't a DT?
On 3rd down in a sub packages... He's played some 4I at Alabama. I think ND projects to be able to bump him down inside of Bryce Young to get both on the field at once. Having two guys with with freakishly long arms coming off the sane side of the defensive formation is a nightmare, especially with as much 3rd down short passing game, crossers, etc...

Seems like a bunch of stuff we already knew

The update doesn’t sound that promising. Still no mention of a kicker which was the number need.

I am still holding out to judge the portal but it sounds blah.

Given ND's needs, if I could only have one, I'd rather get Porter than Graham because Porter plays the boundary. That said, I'd definitely like to have both given the attrition ND has faced in the WR room and the fact that both Faison and Greathouse project to be gone at season's end.

The fact that Ohio State is trying diligently to keep Graham is indicative of how they feel about him really good player, that just happened to be blocked by Carnell Tate this year and who should battle for a starting spot in 2026. I also think the academic concerns that Graham had coming iut of high school (couldn't even qualify for ND) are probably still concerning for him. Remaining eligible at Ohio State is one thing. Remaining eligible at a place like Notre Dame is a different deal all together.

Am I a sucker for thinking they have London Simmons wrapped up behind closed doors?

I wonder who the 4 alleged signees are. This doesn't make it sound like Graham is one.

Media seems to have minimal info on who’s visiting. I’d be shocked if they have accurately reported every DT that has visited, etc
I've been strongly suggesting for several days that ND is probably quietly back chaneling for a DT that hasn't entered the Portal yet and that they'd basically agree to compensation with said player, have him visit quietly, and announce him quickly.

With as many DTs as they've offered / pursued, it's plainly obvious that they understand their positional needs as well as we do and that they are trying to rectify the issue. They're not simply willing to go after just anyone though. They're not trying to add 1-2 guys that just add to the competition in the room. They're trying to add a couple impact guys that they have a high degree of confidence will increase not only the depth, but the overall talent of the room.

I really don’t get why anyone thinks anything the talking heads say is worth 2 shits. They have proven they have as much access as a $2 whore on the corner and at least she gives good head. Stop wasting your time.

Kicker isn’t the #1 need. They have Eric Schmidt who was the #1 kicker and will be in year 2. This team is the walking dead without DTs.

4 done. 2 others still likely. ND will likely slot announcements. Won’t be all at once.

Expect ND to continue to monitor guys after portal close. (There will be some last minute entries, not to mention ND wants to look at a few options at IU, and Miami)

So, 1 or 2 contributors may come after the close of the portal.

Couple possible changes in recruiting office. Maybe not fireable, but may be “Parker’d” out

Porter is a difficult pull. ND right there on money.

Edit: believe O’Malley has suggested similar to some of this.
If Keeley ends up being the only DL I’ll be stunned..

At that point there’s going to need to be some serious roster management.

Sevillano will be a JR & hasn’t emerged as reliable interior body.. I don’t expect that to change. Maybe Dixon does?

There’s really no choice but to throw weight on Young & Burgess, put them inside & pray Partridge can perform miracles. If Dixon or Mullins can elevate & either Hola or Golden can contribute positively you’re in an ok position IF everyone stays healthy.. and what are the chances of that?

I honestly can’t come to grips with the reality that we may whiff on DT with as much cash available as we have.. it’s astounding.

I'll be damned if I know who the four "signees" are. Keeley is one but now its being repoorted that Graham is still considering staying at Ohio St. We'd have a hard time enforcing any deal if he wants to stay there.
And the two we're "working on". Better be more than two.
Everyone thinks we're getting a kicker but is there any evidence we are or is it just everyone knows we need a kicker so it must be true?
